For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. ISAIAH 9:6 NAS
Election day 2004 is here. I have not felt so much anxiety over a presidential election since I was fourteen years old when JFK became President. I remember my freshman civics class at Westport High School, Kansas City Missouri, and my teacher Fred Phollman (elected to Missouri Sports Hall of Fame), and how he took time to explain the candidates and the election process. I remember how strange it seemed to call the President Kennedy instead of Eisenhower. One thing I know is that the country was divided then like it is now and we were able to pull together and become one again. I remember again the country being divided in 1968 and especially in 1972 and afterwards we pulled together and became one. I remember us pulling together during the Iran Crisis and becoming one again. I remember us pulling together for the Gulf War. How about the way we pulled together for 911 ..that was awesome. We pulled together for Iraq war and backed our troop all the way, but since then we have let ourselves become divided over many issues. Regardless of how the election goes today I know that once again we will pull together and become One Nation Under God. Tomorrow the people from the party that was elected, should reach out to someone from the other party that they know and say, Let us be one. Thanks for letting me share this one message. God is doing for me what I could not do for myself ..JRE
Jesus praying to the Father, John 17:11 NIV.
Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, that they maybe one, even as We are one.
Gratitude should go forward, rather than backward. BILL W.
