One Last Confirmation

I'm about to have a visit with a counselor.

My doubts are kicking in. Would I be damned for asking God to (or thinking that God would) speak through so that I could know the difference between what's real and what's not?

I don't think so, but testing can definitely get you into trouble. I used to ask for reassurance all the time, but the last few days none has really come, so if you're used to needing reassurance from God a lot and it doesn't come then you are probably going to have a rough couple days until it comes or you start to let go a little

I just hit a deer on the drive home from counselling. Now I'm nervous that this is an sign from God. I mean, what are the chances. No one was hurt (beside the deer). Car took a little damage. But is God now telling to disregard everything my counseller just confirmed to me?

Think about it from an outside point of view. What would hitting a deer signify? God is not the author of confusion. If he is sending a sign, you will understand it. I can think of nothing special that hitting a deer would signify, except perhaps that God is looking out for you and protecting you from potential harm, because you could have wrecked your car.

Or it signifies that He's providing you with a wholesome meal!

No, just kidding. That's probably illegal...

But hitting a deer isn't exactly an uncommon occurance. Many places have quite large deer populations. So hitting a deer isn't exactly an expicit way of telling you something.

And, like Tripletiger pointed out, if God is using such common occurances to communicate to you, then 1. He's talking to you an awful lot, and 2. He's not being very clear. What if you had stubbed your toe on the curb on your way into therapy? Could that be a sign from God that you shouldn't go to therapy?

Try to remember that you have a mental illness that causes people to think in ways like this, so it would make a lot more sense that you're just suffering from one of your OCD thoughts.
