  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"Once upon a time in Mexico" and "Traffic"

I didn't like Once Upon a Time in Mexico. It was just all over the place and seemed shoddily edited. The only saving grace was Johnny Depp's eccentric performance and the novelty t-shirts he wore all throughout the movie.

Those shirts owned.

Traffic was good. I liked it.

I liked both of them, but neither struck me as anything really special. Once upon a time in Mexico was just a fun movie, with a little attitude, and Traffic tried to be a big time drug movie, like so many others. But in the end it seemed to fall short of its goal.

Well, perhaps you're right. Once upon a time isn't as original as Desparado. The latter was a much better film, there was more care put into Desparado. Whereas Once upon was rather hastily made it does have loads of amazing action sequences but ultimately aiming to gain big bucks, more than Desparado! Johnny Depp saves the film from collapsing on its knees although Depp did indeed do that in the film! The DVD for Once upon is brilliant though and even funny in places, check out the cooking section on the DVD and the director's Bat cave editing studio! Deparado wins easily for an excelllent romantic scene, if you know what I mean!
What did you like about Traffic?

I love Johnny Depp, almost everything I have ever seen him in has been a stellar performance, although I must concur with the other critics here, in 'Once Upon a Time in Mexico' the only thing saving this movie in my view was Johnny Depp.

I did a high school research paper on drug trafficing, and Johnny Depp's character portral in 'Traffic' by all accounts is dead on.

Erm, Johnny Depp doesn't star in Traffic.
Traffic stars Michael Douglas, Benicio Del Toro, Catherine Zeta Jones. But no Depp unfortunately.

I haven't seen either one yet. But I am planning on seeing OUATIM because of Johnny Depp. I saw the movie Blow. Other than the excessive language, I thought it was great. I found myself feeling sorry for George Jung. I never thought that would have been my reaction!
