Once Saved, Always Saved?

Read the prophetic chapter of Matthew :24. When I read it again I notice more about salvation even though it does not mention it much. I also love what someone else said before. The bible says Jesus will never leave us nor forsake us... it did not say that we could not do it to Him. I still believe there is only so far a person can backslide before they say to God, I don't need you anymore. You can only live for one god and you will recieve the wages for working for that one. A person "cannot serve two masters."

To be saved and then to become unsaved because you stop believing kinda just says to me that Jesus giving his life for us isn't enough to keep us saved for our whole life once we give our life to him...even if we backslide. What I am saying is that as human beings in our fallen state have only one thing we can make a decision on based on our own reason and will and that is to reject Christ which we do even when we choose to sin. We can not and do not choose good without the Holy Spirit's intervention in our lives. So though we have salvation it is only because of sending the Holy Spirit to us upon our confession that we are sinful and in need of a savior.

We are still sinners even when we are saved. We still have a desire to please the self though that desire is lessened by the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives since confessing our need for salvation. We dont' stop being sinner when we are saved. We have help to avoid sin much easier, but we still sin.

Unlike our inability to make a decision for God we do have the ability to reject him as that is part of our sinful nature. So this is why Once saved always saved fails. What you have to realize is that if we have the assurance that our sins are forgiven because of what Christ did 2000 years ago
and we have the Holy Spirit working in our lives it is less likely that we will ever come to that decision, but it has happened.

I believe that you are once saved always saved but only as long as you remain in faith with the true God, Yahweh or the God of the Bible. In other words, as long as you remain in faith with Jesus Christ, you will remain saved.

Once we are saved, we will always be saved, but we aren't saved until we're secure in the arms of our Lord in heaven.

He probably loves it because the context it has been used in has become a greater threat to the Christian belief then the thought of those unsaved thinking they have enough time. I don't know which is worse- satan the accuser of the brethren or satan the confirmer of our salvation... weird but true.

As SLS seems to back- Christ is the perfect gentleman, when we invite Him in He stays and when we tell Him to leave He leaves.

When someone gives you a gift it is yours to keep you don't accept it, but you do have the power to reject it. The receiver can keep the gift or reject it, but there is no acceptance needed. There is also no invitation. Many Christians think that Revelation 3:20 is speaking to non-believers but it is really speaking to luke-warm Christians. read the whole passage and you will see that.

Matthew 24:13 "But those who endure to the end will be saved."
notice the word endure according to Webster endure means to put up with
or tolerate. that means if we dont endure through even the hardest times
and slip up just once...then we have backslidden and need to repent.

John 12:45 "But all who reject me and my message will be judged at the day of judgment by the truth I have spoken."
that points it out right there. if you die right now and you do not have a
truely repentant heart you are going to go hell. its harsh and its hard to
take in. but i teach this to my youth all the time. i cant tell you how many
of them hate me for it. but you know its the truth and the truth hurts.

2 Timothy 2:12 "If we endure hardship, we will reign with him. If we deny him, he will deny us."
Once again point proven!

i just want people to realize that once saved always saved is a false doctrine and with people being taught that they are going to end up in Hell. i hate to say it and i hate to make that clear but you know it will happen look at my dad.

Your being feed false doctrines if you don't believe once saved always saved.... your taking the verses out of context .... if you are saved you cannot lose salvation

Here is a few scriptures that shows how some walked away from Jesus;

John 6:66

66) From that time many of his diciples went back, and walked no more with him.

They walked from the light, there is only one other direction/path. Perhaps that is why
the verse shows that it is is 6:66 of the enemy in which they walked away.

There is another verse that states, Better to have not know the truth, than to know
it and have walked away from it.

so if I get saved, then 10 years later, turn my back on God, and become an atheist.
Will I still go to heaven?

Why would I still go to heaven, if I didn't believe in God! I wouldn't want to be with God. God would take my will from me?

I don't believe in once saved always saved. We have a free will to choose.

This is not a subject that I like arguing/discussing/debating because there is no clear answer. I believe that you are once saved always saved, but I know people who stray away from the Lord so my guess is that they really never had saving faith. So I don't think they were saved to begin with. That's all I'm going to say about that.

The teaching of Once Saved, Always Saved is better known (imho) as Preservation of the Saints. The crux of it is, that the elect (once saved) are preserved by the hand of God from ever falling completely away from Him.

While each man's journey is unique, and each may go through valleys or over hills, further or closer to God (as it were), the elect never fall completely away.

So... questions of the kind 'If I am saved at point x, and sometime later become an atheist' (or the like) ... are meaningless. According to this teaching, you CANNOT be saved at one point and fall away at another. Either you are saved and will never fall (completely); or, you are never saved.

If you die in unbelief, you were never saved; if you are saved, you cannot die in unbelief.

Don't you think it a bit presumptous of you to tell who God has saved, friend? What do you know of your father's relationship with God? Not everyone thinks 'speaking in tongues' is evidence of salvation, don't you know? Only God knows what's in the heart of man.

You don't yet know God's plan for your dad, much less for anyone else. And you have done no proving whatsoever, beside giving your opinion as to the meaning of some verses, which, in truth, have nothing to do with the preservation of the saints...

The doctrine that you say is false DOES NOT teach that once saved you can become an unbeliever, or fall from God, and be saved. It teaches that the elect are kept from falling. You say your dad was saved and fell? Since God alone knows His elect, what can you use to support your statement?

Oh yes you can! As a human being you have the innate ability to sin and the innate ability to run away from God. Just because you believe Jesus is the Son of God and that he died for your sins does not mean that you still don't harbor the ability to reject it.

That being said the Holy Spirit is the Power of God and if we remain in him, he has promised that he will remain in us. Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. We will be tempted but he gives us the power to stand up under the temptation and overcome it. Those who believe will also be tempted more often and more intensely than anyone else because Satan wants to rob you of your joy. Man does not lose his innate ability to sin so the possibility is alway there, though remote for you to blaspheme the Holy Spirit by rejecting Christ.
