I know enough to know if it's right or wrong. You, on the other hand, don't know basic science, and yet you dismiss it at the drop of a hat.
If they are doing that then they are doing a poor job of parenting. They need to accompany presentation of established facts with training in critical thinking. They need to guide their children in understanding how those facts became established and how they must, nevertheless question them, and how they may do so logically and effectively.Parents tell kids things which are expected to be believed on authority all the time.
Good question. Why think that falsefiability should be a prerequisite to belief in something?
You mean "what to think"?I wasn't an especially good parent, but I did at least manage to teach my two to think.
And why is that? The most foolish thing anyone can say is “I know enough.”
It reflects an attitude that is averse to learning new things, which is unwise because you never know when certain knowledge will be useful. And why is that?
When you believe something's antithesis, you don't need to know the ins and outs. How so, when you don't know how science is determined to be right or wrong?
It doesn't work that way in trying to impress academians. It reflects an attitude that is averse to learning new things, which is unwise because you never know when certain knowledge will be useful.
Ah, yes, when trying to impress academics we should definitely bring up the fact that we already know enough. That'll make you the professor's favoriteIt doesn't work that way in trying to impress academians.
Acts 26:24 And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.
And we're not all MacGyvers.
Do you know all there is about creationism?Ah, yes, when trying to impress academics we should definitely bring up the fact that we already know enough. That'll make you the professor's favorite
Like I said, one can never know “enough.” But as far as creation is concerned, I know that it makes claims that are in direct conflict with empirical evidence, which truly is enough to determine that except for models where the creator is deceptive, creation models fail to accurately reflect reality.Do you know all there is about creationism?
If not, are you trying to learn?
And if you are, what do you think about your fellow academians who ask creationists good questions, get good answers, then ridicule the answers?
Do you get the impression they're trying to learn anything?
In other words, believing something's antithesis is good enough, isn't it?Like I said, one can never know “enough.” But as far as creation is concerned, I know that it makes claims that are in direct conflict with empirical evidence, which truly is enough to determine that except for models where the creator is deceptive, creation models fail to accurately reflect reality.
I just find it interesting that those who choose not to forage into the scientific arena are treated with contempt by those who choose not to forage into the creationist arena.Depends why you believe the antithesis.
Interesting? I see it as a matter of course.I just find it interesting that those who choose not to forage into the scientific arena are treated with contempt by those who choose not to forage into the creationist arena.
