well...there are pros and cons to both films.

--Ted Neeley is a thousand times better than Carter, no matter how you look at it. Let me rephrase, they both may be the same on acting levels. But Glen Carter is too pretty to be Jesus (infact looks a little too gay) and Ted Neeley looks more like Jesus...rough, gruff, and has a rock and roll voice.

--The Late and Great Carl Anderson, need I say more...he rocks my socks off as Judas.

--There are some setbacks to the 1973 film, but it's only because at this day and time it looks a little silly to see a bunch of hippies in the Israeli desert. But how can that be helped, it was filmed in that time frame.

--Some of the production sucked...but oh well.

Then the 2000 film.

--I like the new orchestrations...its an interesting spin on the show...It kind of looses the Rock Opera affect, though.

--I love the Pilate of the 2000 film better. the Army Drill Sargent, seems to be a lot more effective.

--Pardon!-Goodness gracious, at first I despised him as Judas. But he is a good actor, and plays Judas well.

--I do not like Carter as Jesus.

--I like the visuals of the 2000 film.

I own currently 5 albums of JCS. I am looking for the Australian Cast Album, which I have heard the clips for-- it's by far probably the best one they have ever done of Superstar. But right now the 1973 Movie soundtrack is my favorite, because it has Neeley and Anderson--and it just rocks. The 1996 Version is my second favorite I like Scott Balsamo and Alice Cooper, doing Herod....ooooh!

By the way--- I am thrilled to see Neeley on tour!!!! I hope I get to meet him! What a happy day that'd be!
