Umm, well they have textbooks that are used in classrooms, which incorporate various archaeological data and historical records from others as well...Is that what you are getting at?

The study of that period of history in most places usually isn't gone into in much depth in pre-university school. When it is covered, it's usually part of World History so I doubt it would be given that much detail.

I think we would also do well not to confuse the modern secular state called Israel with the nation of Israel in the OT.

My question was simple. I have no agenda. My question is simply do they teach old testament events in their history books in schools today as fact? If you think I was trying to start a debate you are mistaken. If you are easily offended by any question someone asks then you dont need to respond. A simple yes or no is what I am looking for.

The Bible is the historical record of God's redemptive interactions with Mankind focusing specifically on Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their descendents as the chosen people, out of whom would come Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah and saviour of the world. It is not just a historical record, but as a historical record it is authentic and is still being used by archaeologists the world over whenever they wish to excavate the Middle East (which is more than can be said, for example, about the Book of Mormon, with reference to archaeological expeditions in the Americas).

I think we need an Israeli citizen who has gone through the school system there to answer this question for sure, then. N'est pas?

They use the Old Testament as history (heck, it's the history of their people and the promise of redemption through the Messiah - they just haven't realised that He was Jesus, but this will be revealed to them in the end times after the rapture) but they call it a different name, the Tanakh.

Are you a Sabra? I'm curious and would love more than a yes or no answer!
