old poem

Here is a poem I wrote a few years ago about the passing of seasons, in this case winter-my favorite season. I hope you enjoy even though it is in an unusal format.

No More Sleds
the winter slips away much quicker
than it ever should have gone
the mercury rises and the level of
the drifted snow across the town falls
where has it gone this glorious wonderland
sparkling and shining in the warm morning
sunlight brighter than any summer day
the days of only finding water indoors
are rapidly diminishing as drips drops and
even lolling waves appear as the ice and
snow melt all around leaving the mess of
salt and sand behind on the sidewalks
from the trickling tributaries in the once
plowed over streets to the lakes thawing and
the rivers beginning again to freely flow carrying
islands of ice upon their dynamic surfaces
the unappreciated beauty of winter is slipping
away not to become once more for three seasons
birds begin to chirp heavy clothing is stowed in
closets and cellars shovels are replaced by brooms
to sweep the remnants of the dying winter under
the carpet of the rapidly approaching spring season
nature begins its renewal as the ground bushes and
trees grow folia canopies to clothe their nakedness
the embrace with winter has been slipped and the
ensuing result is that the days have grown longer

I like winter! This was written before God found me so you can see some despondency in it  but now there is nothing but joy. I have Jesus! And winter too! :) God bless. Thanks for reading.
