sorry, I can't speak German, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a German to Old German dictionary online? If anyone who studies etymology can help me that'll be great?

Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

to show how the English language and the German language originated from the same ancient language, if you compare old german and old English words they are very similar. but modern english and german has changed so much they are quite different. it's a bit of a nightmare!

yes...I had to take courses on Old English at University...they are really similar...and Old English is a lot more similar to modern day German than it is to English

yeah it's really similar! I've found I can read some German now (though not much!) after doing this just by comparing it to English.

yeah I do for a while, overseas though. I might try and go all the way to get docterate in linguistics and become a lecturer but I'm not sure.

it's Quenya (elfish language in Lor of the Rings) and means God's child/daughter...I'm a big Tolkien fan that's great...I never ever could do that...I'm just to scared when I have to speak in front of people....that's sound really great

that's why people keep asking me if my onlinename is Japanese I've started learning Japanese a while ago back at University but didn't get very far get
it's a really interesting language...guess the best way to get over the fear is practise
Brum's really nice and I quite like it here so far - just have been here for 2 months yet and it's really different from home....

yeah, I'd guess so! Hina is also a type of japanese doll!I'm glad your liking Birmingham, I love it there. I think it's quite a different city to most of the UK too. (oh, and if you like contempory art. you need to check out the custard factory.)

custard factory and arts...my first thought was that somebody did something with the custard that they shouldn't have done
but I guess they have some kind of gallery there....haven't been to any museums yet...don't really have a lot of free time
