  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just realized that we haven't even thought about middle names for this baby.

We've mostly decided on the first names. A girl will be either Aislin ("Ash-lynn") or Aisling ("Ash-ling") and a boy will be Kieran. All of our kids have Gaelic first names, and "normal" middle names:

Aryanna Elizabeth
Aoghdan Alan
Seamus Riley
Hamish Patrick
Sinead Eve

Our last name is a simple, two syllable name. One middle name I have wanted to use since we started was Marie, but I don't know how that sounds with Aislin/Aisling. Also it would officially preclude me from ever naming a baby Mairi, if by some good fortune we ever had another (this is supposed to be our last.) I have no clue for a boy's name.

Ideas?

I think Aislin Marie sounds nice (that's pronounced Mar-EE rather than MAR-ee, right?).

Yeah, emphasis on the second syllable. It's my mom's middle name, and I've always liked it. It's a definite possibility, though I'd like to consider other names, too. Just not sure which ones.

I already used the two main family names I wanted: Riley & Patrick.

Hmm, I actually think Rose goes better with longer first names. Like Aryanna Rose would have been nice.

I did have a friend growing up named Rose, but I already named one baby after her sister (Eve). ;)
