  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi, I am new here and thought I would share some poetry... I was having alot of trouble writing a while back, I could write nothing, so I started with a rhyme... and, well, here it is...

Ode to a Rhyme

I want to rhyme
if only for a time
the walls I will climb
if I cant rhyme

Since when I was 13
Its been a routine
It remains to be seen
If I have broke the machine
that is rhyme

All it does is confuse
theres no way to excuse
this verbal abuse
that is rhyme.

It tears at my heart
these words that outsmart
My rage it does impart
This bittersweet art,
that is rhyme

The ideas ferment
into words that torment
Idle time so misspent
on a rhyme

Once the poetic cap I wore
rhymeless now forevermore?
Endless thoughts I cant ignore
so many words left to explore
that rhyme

I long for days so long ago
considered once as quite the pro
A poet from whom witty words did flow
with a rhyme

Now here I am with all this talk
trying so hard to now unlock
what many call writers block
with a rhyme

So tell me how I'm doing now
do I get a sneer or curtsy bow
Have I won this battle somehow
with a rhyme?

We both know this surely must end
my gratitude I must now extend
To this quirky ode I have now penned
to a rhyme.
