Oddest Band

Hmm, what is the oddest, weirdest band any of you listen to? It can be one not a lot of people have heard of or just one w/ a weird sound to it. I think the weirdest band i listen to would have to be Modest Mouse.

Danielson Famile is pretty weird. Especially Brother Danielson. It's not every day you see someone perform in a tree costume.

Ween has some pretty weird songs. But they also have some not-so-weird songs, so I don't know if they can really qualify for weirdness.

It looks like he took a page from Sir Elton John's book. If we are adding costumes to the bunch then you might as well add on EJ and Liberace.

That seems to be a pretty recent photo. I don't think Brother Danielson is out of his twenties as of yet. He usually wears the tree outfit, but I went to see him last year and he wasn't wearing it; I was rather disappointed.

Actually, I think that Wolf Eyes is quite possibly the strangest stuff I have ever heard. It sounds like a thousand radios playing every station simultaneously (white noise included) in the deepest, darkest, innermost circle of hell.

Captain Beefheart (If you think your taste in music runs weird, but haven't heard "Trout Mask Replica" your opinion means zilch)
Noxagt (instrumental rock ala Lightning Bolt or Hella, with a strong string presence)
The Residents (my favorite group, ever. they are known for performing in Eyeball costumes, creating crazy themed albums, and their best stuff features "voices.")
Sleepytime Gorilla Museum (intelligent operatic metal with gothic tinges. strong natural history themes in the educational liner notes)
Tom Waits (if you can't handle his voice, get out of the bloody water.)
Frank Zappa (if you look in the dictionary his name appears as the 4th definition for "weird")

And we better tip our cap to the Beatles. After you get past their radio singles and potential radio singles, they created some pretty odd stuff.

There are others, but that is just whats in my CD wallet right now...
