It is important to have your mamograms done every year, especially if you have any kind of breast cancer history in your family.

My father's side of the family has breast cancer history, so my OB/GYN had me do my baseline before I was 40.

Also remember that not all breast cancers can be detected through self exam. My last mamo had an abnormality that I didn't detect during my self exams. Fortunately, my second mamo came up negative. But it shows how important these exams are.

If you can't remember when you've had yourlast, schedule it in October during awareness month, or on or around your birthday. Mines is easy, my birthday's in October.
