• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

OCD Destroying My Life

I've tried to speak with God but I don't know how to feel anymore. I want to be back with God but without feeling or being convinced God is with me. My OCD is very bad and the comfort of God helped me so mmuch in the past.

Why isn't it okay that you feel whatever it is you feel at the time...even if it's nothing at all? Or are you saying that whenever you pray, you feel that you're somehow being convinced that God is with you (a feeling you don't want (a feeling of being convinced))?

Thanks, it sure feels like God has turned his back on me and my family. But I guess during doubtful times these thoughts can happen. I know in some way he is there, but not feeling the connection or hearing him is where I'm sad.

I think I understand what you mean. I've felt like that lots of times. Like maybe my prayers are pointless because I don't actually feel different or anything when praying. But God hearing us is not dependant upon how we feel when we pray. It might seem like God is far away, but He is really close, right with you. You might not see His whole plan yet, but it can all work out for good. A Bible verse I recently came upon I think might help you a bit.

Romans 8:26-27: In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
