Honestly, people that let their animals get so excessively obese should have their animals taken away from them. It is a form of animal cruelty.

I've had overweight dogs in the past, but any person with a working brain knows that getting that fat is not healthy and detrimental to the animal's health. All my dogs are kept thin and muscular. And I never let especially my older dogs become fat. Ideally you should be able to easily feel the first two ribs on your dogs without having to search through fat.

hmmm it is very sad that people allow their animals to get so unhealthy. Our dog was a bit chubby when we adopted her... but since then, with healthy food and plenty of walks, she is a good size now.

I agree, letting your animals get so over weight is a form of abuse, and these animals should be taken off their owners. It's not fair.

in the uk theres a show on obese pets on on wednesday i think.

I saw someone on here not that long ago saying that fat pets like cats don't suffer when there fat in another thread and aparently a vet told this person the above, i pm this person and gave him a list of problems that obese pets can have.

Diabetes Mellitus
Arthritis
Hepatic Lipidosis
Shortness of breath, especially after exercise
Skin problems
Greater risk during anaesthesia & surgery
Heart disease

People who let there animals get that big should go to a class and learn that animals should never be that big. And the class will help and when they have learned there lesson the people will be in a better shape and so will the animals.
