  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

"It means investing $150 billion to build an American green energy economy that will create five million new jobs while freeing our nation from the tyranny of foreign oil and saving our planet for our children..."

Well, first of all I am getting really tired of hearing the expression "the greatest economic challenge of our time." We get it. Move on. You can say it again next week but it's not going to motivate anyone or influence anything any more than it already has. So stop scaring the hell out of investors and stock brokers.

Having gotten that rant out of the way...

Being politically centrist and an independent thinker, it is natural for me to agree with Obama's policies in some cases and disagree in other cases. When it comes to his policies on how to reinvigorate the American economy, I find quite a few spaces where I can agree with his position—particularly his commitment to having the American public to roll up their sleeves and actively participate with his administration in the efforts (once he takes office). He firmly believes that America was built "from the bottom up" and is committed to reinvigorating her economy the same way. When he said, "Doing all this will require not just new policies, but a new spirit of service and sacrifice, where each of us resolves to pitch in," it brought to mind Franklin D. Roosevelt's acceptance speech: "This is more than a political campaign. It is a call to arms."

Not coincidentally, Obama has been studying in detail the life and policies of Roosevelt and is striving to create a broad economic policy plan that emulates the effectiveness of the New Deal of 1933 on the one hand (short-term solutions) and 1936 on the other (long-term solutions). Roosevelt is widely considered by political scholars to be one the greatest Presidents in American history precisely because of the successful economic solutions of his administration in pulling the United States out of the Great Depression. So I think it is eminently wise that Obama has been studying him.

When it comes to Obama's direction of reinvigorating the American economy through developing new energy industries, I enthusiastically concur and I would love to see Canada parallel this direction. Developing new energy industries not only shows concern for the environment we are leaving our children but would also relieve us of our dependence upon foreign oil—and also provide the automobile manufacturing and service industry a bright and extensive future.

it seems the more Obama speaks, the more the left is angry at him right now.
I'm very sure this will all change, but for now, he seems to be leading the country right back into the Clinton era with his cabinet picks.

I'm actually thankful for that tho, becuz he seems utterly clueless on what to do without asking everyone else for the answers

The folks on the Today show this morning seemed to be getting on him about trying to be president now...it was an odd thing to watch..saying 'Are there two presidents now?' and how BO will become essentially road-noise if he keeps having daily news/press conferences (3 days in a row so far, guess he'll take Thanksgiving off ;) )
