I'm taking a photography course through NYIP by mail. Has anyone else tried this? I'm kind of a procrastinator so I would like a buddy that will keep me on track.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When did you start? How is it? Is it worth it? I am totally planning on doing it in about a month, as soon as we get taxes back. Been wanting to do it for a while now

I started in October I think. I'm doing the complete course in professional photography and it's great. As I said I am a procrastinator so I took 2 months to do the first unit... I finished reading everything and taking the quizzes but I took forever on taking the pics. It's definitely worth it plus with the program I'm doing I got a press pass and will also get an umbrella. If you decide to do another program maybe we can trade books when we're finished.

I have nothing useful to say, but your post did inspire me to dig in the attic to find these two photos of my father teaching at NYIP in 1945.

Wow, that's great! I've been really interested in the courses they offer. What kind of assignments do they give you? Is the press pass part of it?
