  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm really nervous about not getting into nursing school. Its hard to transfer credits from a different university to a nursing school so I am only able to apply to one (Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center). It is the scariest thing to think about - What if I don't get in? What will I do? Wait another year? Take more classes? Change my major? Get a job? Hope God sends me a millionare to marry right away:clap: ? (lol, only kidding about the last one).

I've been praying about it unceasingly. It has been kind of a downer. I've got a good GPA but nursing school is very competitive, there are so many people applying. People tend to think just because there is a nursing shortage that they are accepting more nurses into schools to make up for it. Its the opposite - there are hardly enough nursing teachers to teach so they can't do that. The nursing teachers get paid squat for their degrees. (They could make more working in a hospital most likely).

I would rather get my degree in education and teach elementary, but my father won't allow me to get "one of those **** degrees where you can't advance". Nursing is my next option. (I can always get my teaching certificate later. In Texas you only have to have a bachelors degree in anything to teach whatever youd like. I don't know if it is like this in other states)

I just had to vent, thanks:p

Well, good luck on getting into nursing school. My advice is that if you don't get in, take some more classes that will help you in the long run. If it's God's desire for you to eventually be an RN, then everything'll be fine. Be prepared though. I've got a very close friend that's a nursing major, and she has class all day on Mondays and Fridays, then clinical's on Tues-Thurs. She's got a pretty demanding schedule. Good luck. Keep us posted on how it goes.

I am sort of in the same boat as you. I just changed my major to social work and I have to be admitted to the program, and I am so afraid I won't be admitted to it, it is really what I feel I am being called to do. But if it is meant to be you will be admitted, and if you are determined enough, I don't think you will have trouble getting in.... they just have admission processes because they want people that are dedicated to what they will be doing.

A little side note, too bad you don't know me, my dad works for Elsevier Science, formerly known as Mosby, the largest medical book publisher in the world.... he gets 50% off books :-X
