Our nursery was already decorated when we moved in to our house - and we just never changed it! It has yellowy-orange wall paper, with a Noah's ark border and I think it would look good for a boy or a girl. Noah's ark theme doesn't have to be blue. We also have a wonderful Noah's ark mobile to hang over the cot - very cool

I just recently watched a home decor show that decorated a baby girls room. The theme was actually hot air balloons...they did it beautifully. the walls were all in pastel colors and then they hung (don't know where you would buy these) different size beautiful pastel colored hot air balloon models.

I've never seen anything like it, it was stunning!

We've never had a theme... no room for a separate nursery. I have splurged though on crib bedding over the years and had some Really cute sets. One was a Sandra Boynton farm animals one that went through 3 boys. lol The current one that I have is not gender specific~ it's a quilt pattern of creamy yellow/chambray blues/washed out reds/grays/washed out greens... Ok that sounds like a muddled mess~ trust me, it's REALLY nice! lol

I am really, really loving some sort of zoo/animal theme but I'm not sure that it would work for a little girl... would it? I am finding so many that I like and part of me just wants to go with it anyway

I don't think you need a theme at all. We don't have themes in either of our kids' rooms and I don't think they are feeling too neglected by it!

Our walls are all a creamy colour, and we have wooden furniture. We just arrange lots of toys and books around the kids rooms, and they look very welcoming, without adhering to a theme.

We didn't go with a theme either. My son's room is painted yellow (the paint was called "pineapple") and it was that color long before he came along. When he graduated from a crib to a big boy bed when he was about 2 or 2 1/2, we got him a sports themed bedding set. We figured that would last several age-stages before it wears out. I didn't want to go with a Winnie the Pooh or Thomas the Train that he'd outgrow in a year or two. They grow so fast and their interests change just as fast, so we decided to go with a basics that could grow with him. He has a pretty small room, so it's mostly decorated in toys. He loves trains, so when my mom made him a train themed quilt, we hung it on the wall. I don't think there's anything at all wrong with having animals or Noah's Ark for a girl.

we did not go with a theme at first but once my daughter started likeing carebears and my little pony we kinda mixed them not we are just down to carebears

Girls like animals, too! I think you should go for it.

Our plan (which is always subject to change) if we're ever blessed with a child is not to find out the gender. If that's the case, my family will have a cow, but we'd decorate with fairly unisex decor. That Wendy Bellissimo stuff that GolfingMom linked to is adorable. If they made a turtle or frog pattern, I'd be all over it.

I won't go all out and use the curtains and stuff... but i definitely want the cot set!!! It's just SO pretty!!!

I think an animal theme would work for a boys or girls room, especially when they are small. My daughter LOVES her stuffed animals. She has tigers, bears, rabbits, ponies, you name it she probably has it. She just loves her stuffed animals and most mornings I go in and she has had a lot of them in her bed having a cuddle.

She doesn't have a theme for her room exactly but looking at what she has in her room, I mostly see stuffed animals ROFL. Her bedding is pink, and purple with butterflies. So yes, if I had to say her room had a "theme" I would say she has animals.

My daughters room is a lavender and white theme. You wouldn't think it though. With the amount of toys she has in there it just looks like a kalidescope of colours.

I still have no ideas for my sons room so currently it is just boring white.
