• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Now what?

It looks as if the library tech school that I applied to wants some academic upgrading out of me. I don't know what to do.

If I did seek to return and take more undergrad courses for a year or so, I have a fairly decent notion of which classes to take that would not be terribly problematic for me. I could also get some work experience in the campus library, and it's the lack of experience that was another part of the reason my application was denied.

But there are drawbacks. I cannot handle the thought of living under my parents' roof another day. I just want to start living my own life and running my own affairs, and that becomes more difficult. I also don't want to be a professional student, and that is quickly becoming the case with me.

I also have to consider the fact that I have applied at a second library tech school. I have a strong hunch that they too may require me to do upgrading before being accepted, but I also know that they have a library "program path" that could possibly be an option because I could take a course or two without formal admission to the program. I know that I will probably wait and see how that plays out first, but there are so many benefits and drawbacks to any more undergrad coursework that I just don't know what to do.

Any thoughts?

which path would give you a better chance of admission into the library program? taking another year of undergrad courses or the library program path? what makes you not want to live with your parents? do you get along with them at all? i would encourage you to seek God because he knows whats best for you. both options seem great, how about asking the schools you applied to what they would recommend?

take it before God in prayer, trust him to guide you to make the right decision. There seems to be benefits in both options but God already knows the future and if you seek his will and plan, he won't let you accidentally choose the wrong thing.

Take the undergrad courses you need to get admitted into a library program (which I assume is an MLS/master's program, correct? - If not, we need to talk). I can give you more advice on this if you like. Feel free to PM me and if my box is full, leave me a note on my visitor page and I'll clear it up.
