  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

well. my dogs finally got better so now my 15-year-old cat has bad kidney failure. she's the best friend I"ve had for years. Right now I'm at work and my mom called and said she had 2 seizures in the past hour or so... we decided against taking her to the emergency vet since it'd just cost hundreds of dollars and they probably can't fix it anyway. So please pray for us both!!

but also I wanted to mention that my cat always ate Purina One dry food, the kind that prevents urinary tract infections. I just found out that those foods that stop UT problems are higher in acid than normal food, which can make your cat get kidney failure. No way to know if it CAUSED this problem, but it definitely sped it up. And also, when your cat gets to be about 7, talk to your vet about switching to a lower-protein, higher-fat, lower-salt/phosphorous food. so you don't wind up like my kitty!!:(

If it's having seizures it's near the end. Get it to the vet now - call an animal ambulance if you have to. They will give you shots to suppress them. If your cat is too far gone, it may be time to say goodbye. Please speak to a vet ASAP. I will pray for you at this sad time

I've never heard of an animal ambulance, perhaps this is a service that my locality doesn't have. Not all smaller towns have these kinds of services. Heck, my town doesn't even have an emergency vet or anything of that sort; if you live here and your pets get sick on saturday or sunday or at night-time, you have little choice but to wait it out.

(((HUG))) goodgirl I agree with bubblegirl that if the poor thing is having seizures then it is probably about time for her body to rest. Fifteen years is quite a long time for a feline, and I'm sure she's had a wonderful and full life.

I'll definetly be keeping a close eye on the substances in my cat's food... my family had more than a few pass away because of ash in their urinary tract because of poor quality food.

Take care, prayfully this sad time will pass quickly for you.

well, hmmm! The vet said the seizures might just stop and I thought "yeah, when she dies" :| but she was right. apparently it was high blood pressure which resulted from the kidney disease but also from not eating enough (low protein). So now we gave her Pet-tinic, which is a vitamin B and Iron liquid supplement, on her food and she is eating more. (if your pet ever won't eat... I can vouch for this stuff!) So now she seems better... the vet said her kidneys seem to be doing pretty well. thanks for your prayers!!

Wonderful news! You think the worst and get prepared and the best happens. Puss is going to need a lot of extra nights on the bed I think :) This experience has probably prepared you for future troubles. When you're a fur-mummy you can never be prepared enough!
