• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

medication alone is not the answer. medication and recovery plans are what works. what kind of plans do you have? what scriptures fill your spiritual needs?
do you have good eating and sleeping habits? i have a certificate (not degree) in DBT behaviors/ clinical issues, and have both knowledge of clinical balalces with spiritual balance.
if you want to problem solve, & bounce ideas off me, i'll be happy to try and help you find what works for you.

Excellent advice. Been there too. Keep praying for peace. Begin by thanking God every day for the things He has done for you, it is tough at first to feel really thankful, but in time it will play a big part in recovery. I will be praying for you.

Hi, Yeah, i've had the very same problem. They've been changing my medicine for 4 years. It's worked to an extent, but my doctor said we're almost out of choices
when it comes to another medicine. Take Care, I hope they find a solution for you. Amin.(short for the musical note, A-minor.

Hi :)
I agree with the above- spiritual aspects, nutrition, exercise, along with counseling are all important components in treatment, along with medication. There are some types of depression that dont respond as well to some medications, or may respond well for a year or more, then stop working. That has been my case. I've been on AD's for 9 years, for most of that time under a Professor in Psych at a well known teaching hospital.
Some people may require a combination of 2 or more medications to achieve wellness. I would urge you to continue to give regular feedback to your doctor about how you're feeling. There is also a fairly recent consideration that some people who are treated for depression but have regular continued depression may actually have bipolar type 2 with no manic episodes, but occasional bursts of energy, inability to sleep, racing thoughts, etc, but just not to such a degree that would cause problems. In these cases, AD's alone may not work.
