Are you kidding? People are involved in politics. And part of being a person is about what you believe and stand for. And you have all kinds of people with all kinds of beliefs in politics. You cannot separate someone from their belief system and tell them whatever they believe must be left at the door when you enter the political arena. That's an impossibility. Every democrat and every republican brings a belief system and value system with them. And we could just as easily say that whatever AOC believes has to be left at the door before she goes in. The meshing of belief systems has always been a part of politics. And there are religious people in both sides of the aisle. There are a great many left leaning Christians who support the Democrat ideology and use their religion as a reason to support it. The fabric of our society is coming apart not because of religion. It's happening because the things that used to hold us together are being torn apart and the fabric has been pulled apart into individual threads. Everyone is being broken up into groups. The things that used to hold us together as a society are being torn apart. Religious community, family community, national community. When people feel unmoored from society around them people become isolated from the community it causes great problems. We have seen a huge uptick in suicide and suicidal ideations especially among the younger generations. Even as the left seeks to tear down the societal moorings that used to hold us together. As the left moves to break up the fabric and cause us to become individual threads we wonder why there are so many problems. Social cohesion is critical for a society to be strong and individuals to flourish. If you are more integrated into a religious community you have far less depression and feelings of being alone. If you are more bonded to your family community you are far less likely to feel alone and individualized. If you are mure integrated into your national political community you are less likely to feel alone and marginalized. Wow, there is so much more to unpack here I can't do it all in one post.
