Notes on a Scandal

The scandal starts when an art teacher (Cate Blanchett) has an affair with one of her students, or is that the main scandal of the school??? Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett and Bill Nighy play the leads in this terrific drama. 2 thumbs way up!

I liked it... although, I found the accents difficult to understand at times. Especially that of the young boy that Cate Blanchett was having an affair with.

The boy's accent was "clear" compared to some real Irish and Scottish films I've seen before. I even use "bawbag" quite often.

Great film, though. Made me laugh when the teacher came to Judi Dench's house from the Lane. 3-0, Defoe! Get in!

 

[Writings]

This was a wonderful movie, and excellently acted. Kate Blanchett and Dame Judi Dench both deserved their Academy Award nominations, and probably they deserved wins, too (but I am perfectly happy with the winners in both of those categories - Jennifer Hudson and Helen Mirren, too!).

I didn't think the accents were hard to understand at all, but that's probably because I watch more British television/movies than the average person, so maybe my ears have been trained...

This movie was horrible to me. Perhaps I went in expecting too much, but Dench and Blanchett were good as usual.
