Not everyone gets into Heaven

Sometimes I think of the fact that God is choosey of who gets into heaven..... and I kinda like that.

There are times where, after the weight of the world i coming down on me, that I feel comfortable some people are going to hell.

Hopefully the hypocrites first!

I'm pretty sure the spite-filled Christians that turn people away from God are at the start of the line to be tossed in the lack of fire.

I see hell a place that is merely apart from God.

The question about who can find their way toward God in the afterlife is more dependant on the individual.

God shows us the path. He does not force it upon us.

Who is to say whether there will be some who can not find the path?

And who could blame God if they can't?

The ability to find God is based on one's ability to distinguish the good from the bad. If one has little practice of making this decision while on earth, they will be severly hampered in their efforts later.

Ultimately, God will want us all with Him. But who could blame a shepherd who does not lure wolves into his paddock with promises of blood.

Those who seek blood will find other paths.

True. It is perhaps the biggest deception the churches have ever perpetrated.

It is a lie that goes against Christianity.

What it is also tough to believe is how many people fall for the lie.

I'm not a conservative, and I'm going to go ahead and refrain from any serious judgments of you or your character. I do hope however, that you will think about what it means to look forward to another human, a soul just as divinely inspired as your own, being tortured or separated from God for all eternity. Please think about the gravity of that, and if you truly hope another person should go through that.

Hi Davin,

I am a Liberal and I agree with Yardstick. Christianity should stop teaching about the demonisation of others.

Whatever reason you have to think that Yardstick is attacking you needs to be put in perspective. I understand your posts are under conservative attack. That doesn't mean that everyone is out to get you in that way.

Like you, I could name a few folks who I'd wish to see go to hell.

The question as posed by Yardstick (IMHO) is should Christianity be teaching that or not . . .

I say no.

But that doesn't mean that I can help doing just that.

Davin, I can understand your sensitivity. CF is not the most hospitible home for Liberals.

But not everybody is against you when they find a percieved flaw in your thinking. I share the same flaw you do. I am not proud of it.

But I do not take it personally when others see my flaws, and neither should you. CF is not a contest about who can be more perfect; more in step with Christ's wishes.

I fall short. I know it. Don't get me started about my feelings about what our response to 9/11 should have been, for you'd see me as about unChristian as anyone you've ever met.

If I wrote of these views here, I'd expect to be shown where I was wrong in terms of Christ's teachings.

Once in a while, Davin, you've got to take one on the chin. Everyone does.

Please reread Yardstick's post and consider if it is a truth you believe in or not. If you don't agree, tell us why. If you do agree, leave it alone.

But if you think you've been unfairly attacked, just report it.

You're not alone, Davin. I'm a lot like you in my beliefs. There's lots of us.

But we need to be careful what we wish for . . . Sometimes we we will get called on it . . .

I think if your honest with yourself we all feel that way from time to time. But all you got to do is realize that without Jesus we all are alittle blood thirsty and lairs. Then we see that God only permits one into heaven, Jesus Christ.

Turning ordinary people into Christians is accomplished through turning them on to the value of their own lives. This is the truth.

When I meet someone who is doing the whole 'I go to church and read the bible so I will be saved and you will not' thing, I try to look the other way.

I think it is important to recognize that people have defense mechanisms, and to separate these from the real value of a good personality.

I will be praying for you, being thrown into the lake of fire is not something I would want for anyone, even the most evil of people. I believe we should be praying to God that He will even save them too..

Not to sound like I am "attacking liberals" because quite honestly this issue has nothing to do with even being liberal...but how can you desire anyone to want to be tossed in the lake of fire? I use lake of fire because that is where hell and death will be thrown into according to Revelation if I am not mistaken..

Do you hate these people? I am just honestly trying to find out why you would even want this for anyone..

As someone who does not believe in a literal Hell.

I would want all to one day find their path to the afterlife. I believe that being seperated from God and being purified for a time is how I perceive some not being allowed into "Heaven".

I suppose that I would go against the fire and brimstone thought of punishment that some hold, but even most Jews believed that you go to a place for purifacation and then when you are ready you go to live with God and most teaching is that it takes a year. .

Whomever said everyone feels like that sometimes, that's not true. I don't wish anyone to go to hell...we have a Savior whom died for us to have access to the Father and I don't wish nor do I even hope that people go to hell.

I believe that the church should continue teaching ALL the word of God (not sugarcoating it or teach people with milk only for the truth will set us free) and that Hell is a place that people whom are apart from God go but we should also teach them a way to come to God to be able to be called children of God and that is through the access of the blood of Christ.

I don't believe there is any place to "get" into. Jesus specifically said that the Kingdom of God (sometimes referred to as Kingdom of Heaven) is "within you." It is living in God, experiencing him and doing good things and helping others as well as growing and progressing ourselves. We will all die and we will then have an afterlife, I believe those who choose to be in the Kingdom of God/Heaven in this life will continue to choose to be in the kingdom after death.

I wrote the original post when I was in a dark mood. I was being honest, open and vulnerable.

I didn't expect in that moment to have a whole bunch of idealistic judgementalism against my post.

I honestly envy people in this thread who haven't experienced the things I have that have pushed me to the ledge.

If you took the time to know me, you would know I'm one of the more giving and compassionate people out there.

Kick a dog enough times and eventually he will bite, in spite of his placid nature.

Lesson learnt: Honesty is best left off the internet. Better to put up a front of complete and utter piety.

I think perhaps you are taking things in the wrong way. I do not see anyone judging you for anything.

Was there was person who said "you are a rotten person" "you are no good" etc etc. I really do not think so.

Perhaps you took my post even judgmental. I just do not understand (keyword) how anyone can be alright with anyone going to the lake of fire.

Than again when I asked God, I pretty much knew because this is the "liberal" section who believes the Second Death is something that its not.

It's part of a fascinating dialogue in Luke 17. Enjoy.

The question for Jesus was not the "where" or geography of his domain as much as the "what," the nature and substance of it, the reality and order that was revealed in it. Matt 5-7 show that emphasis.

God-on-Earth doesn't need to be concerned with either location or clocks. Time/space answers to Him, and the nature He forms *is* no matter where or when.
