  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Not being fed...

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a blessed day in the Lord. I have a question as to if anyone has ever been through a period within their church where they were not being fed the Word of God. They are good messages but none of the messages from my church pulpit have been edifying me at all. I find much edification and uplifting support here and when I am at home studying God's Word, but why not at my own church? Has anyone ever been through this. I am praying about it but am interested to know what has happened and how it worked out for everyone else who has had this experience. Thank you for your time and may God give it back 100 fold, in the name of Jesus...

Absolutely. There have been times when the messages I get from church just seem like rehashed sermons. I almost know what’s going to be said before it’s said, but I just hang in there during those times.
Two things I think about; one what is God wanting me to take away and two my pastor is a very dynamic speaker so I know that at some point he will start a series that will hit home for me. Sometimes it’s possible that a message that seems so familiar to me might be something God wants me to take to someone else. Perhaps I’m to get re-familiar with it so I can be prepared to pass it on in some way.

Dear Gregoryturner

GOD did not want you to be comfortable with the MILK the worldly Church has to feed!!!

For if you truly want to follow GOD and fulfill the MISSION HE has for you then go after the REAL FOOD ( as spoken of in the Bible )

Do you know what it takes to become ANOINTED by GOD???

If your pastor or priest was to start serving the REAL FOOD many would fall by the wayside or just not understand.

His job is to feed the BABES in Christ!!!

I hope your still not happy with BABY FOOD are you???

If you have ANY questions on the FOOD or the ANOINTING please post it.

You are absolutely right. How selfish of me to think that I am the only one who needs to be fed. Thank you for that VERY much... Actually I am not sure how to be anointed by God and am not sure if I am. Actually no, I am not into baby food anymore I am getting much deeper into the word of God...

Dear Gregoryturner

Get your Bible and go to the First EPISTLE of Saint John the APOSTLE chapter 2 verses 26 & 27.

For then you shall know what it is to be ANOINTED!!!

NOW

To be ANOINTED by GOD we MUST COMMIT our WHOLE life to GOD and GOD'S WILL.

That means from that moment on you will seek GOD in every decision.

For it is then we are ANOINTED by GOD with the HOLY SPIRIT. ( as HE gives it freely ( so says GOD'S WORD ) )

Now when this happens to you you will know beyond doubt the HOLY SPIRIT decended upon you and that it came from GOD. ( IT don't sneak in while your sleeping without letting you know you have just recieved a GREAT GIFT from GOD )

( if you think about this you might understand why the preacher doesn't preach this to his flock WITH SPOTS. )

If you have any more questions, please post them.

Sometimes when my church becomes stagnant, I church hop for a week or two. Often times I've just gotten used to how my pastor views scripture and I can anticipate what he will say. It's helpful to hear a fresh perspective, and that helps what I'm used to sound new again.

So hang on and wait for something edifying and when I am not really being edified, there may be someone there who I can help be edified that day?

What you are experiencing is the irrelevance of church in a formal situation.

There is no way a Sunday sermon can touch where everyone is at on a regular basis. We are too varied in our experiences, life situations, and maturity. This is where small groups can be so helpful.

I do a lot of study, and have been in the situation where the pastor felt threatened by my knowledge, which was more extensive than his in many key areas. Thus, he was not going toadd much to where I was at.

Keep up your own studies and discoveries.

As others have said, a sermon can't apply directly to everyone as everyone are in different places in their Chirstian walk and in life. I would hope you are able to get something out of it at some times, though. The point is if the sermons are edifying the majority of the congregation. If not, and a great number of people are not being edified, it may very well be worth pointing this fact out to the pastor so he knows how to best meet the needs of his congregation.

It could also mean you've reached a point where you can start doing some of the "feeding". Start getting involved in different areas of the church ministry such as leading a Bible study or small group for younger Christians, or children for example. There's a lot that can be learned from teaching that you would not come easily by just receiving teaching.

Dear Gregoryturner

There are many preachers and priests that have been to school and have been taught religion and how to handle folks.

But when you really get into the subject of the HOLY SPIRIT they can not relate.

They know what they are taught to think and say. It's sort of like trying to explain exactly what it would feel like when we sneeze to someone that has NEVER sneezed.

This is a path you must travel alone. Remember GOD'S WORD:

" WE EACH SEEK OUR OWN SALVATION "

DON'T GIVE UP, HAVE FAITH, AND REMEMBER:
