  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ok, let me start from the begining...A long time ago in a galexy far far away...ok, so not that begining. Anyways I was looking around a Christian bookstore a while back and I noticed that of all the books they had, only a minimal number were not about humans. The two that weren't, that stuck out, were about horses. Even in the fiction books, they were all about humans. Is it just me or what?

I'm now in the process of writing a fiction story, that's not about huimans, but about animals. I was just curious as to what other writers thought about this... ordeal.

OK, then.

Well, I think that it's kinda weird-and maybe even a bit disappointing-that there are hardly any non-human stories for Christians out there. The only good animal stories I've found so far have been Black Beauty and the Redwall books. The Redwall books are definately not Christian books, and they talk alot about fate and that sort of thing. I would like to see some good non-human Christian books out there, and I think it's great that you're writing one.

Ok, There are 2 mustang. 1 of them is blinde and through the whole story they get separated, then they almost get back together, then they're split again, then almost together. Both of them give up at some point, just say, "it's over." Then something happens and they perk up, but then things take a nose dive, then they get better, then things take a nose dive off the high diving board.

When you first said non-human stories I was thinking aliens. :D Oops. :sorry:

The main reason I can see for so few non-human Christian stories is that Christianity kind of applies to things with... well, souls. Most people don't consider animals Christians or non Christians. (Though John Wesely believed his circuit riding horse was going to heaven. :D ) I mean, we don't have missionaries out trying to save animals, now do we? Then again, stories where the animals are the main characters generally don't follow reality that closely anyway, so I guess there's nothing wrong with having Christian horses. :D Go for it! You might reach an audience that is waiting anxiously for some work in their area. The only thing, as in all Christian fiction, is to be very careful that you don't portray God in the wrong light. Make sure you don't do weird things with theology just to make your story work for animal characters. Good luck!

How mustang communicate with each other. Well, I was thinking of 'translating' it into English, but they have a way of communicating by vocal sounds and body language. They just don't speak with the same...structure...as humans. They do mate for life I believe, which would be their version marrage. I've not all the research yet.

Part One:
Basicly two mustang, who live in Oklahoma, become best friends, and sinse one of them is blind, she needs a guide, that's were the other one comes in. Eventually the herd gets captured, by men looking for horses to sell for riding. They don't know that one of them is blind. And she won't let anyone ride her, cuz she doesn't know what's going on. The men end up selling her to an owner that takes her home, in Canada. The other horse is left behind. Days later he's fed up with being rode around and escapes, only to search all of OK, TX, AX, and NM and not find his best friend. So, he gives up...

That's part 1. Part 2 will be the 'main story,' I guess, where all the real emotion is.

Is it easier? Perhaps it's just me, but I don't see it that way. I don't think that like animals have souls or anything like that, but I do think that they have feeling and emotions to some extent. Animals are made differently than humans that's for sure, but I can't say that one is easier or harder than the other.

Animals use more of body language sinse they're vocal cords are not capable of making as many sounds. The hard part is interpreting the gestures, but once you've got that down, it's easier to know what they're saying. Humans havemore complex emotions, what does give you more of a variety to work with and makes a better story sometimes, but it can get to confusing for some people.
