  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are the views of non-RCs of the Catechism of the CC? Just curious. Thanks

Edit to add: Including ex-RCs.........

I've read through it .

it sounds a lot like protestant teaching .

Don't you find it rather ironic that someone whose screen name is Lover Not a Fighter posts something so obviously meant to provoke a fight?
Ummm not really....I was also a lover and not a fighter back in the '60s and '70s

My daughter quit soccer this year, to devote to cheerleading.
But my kids play AYSO in spring.

[break in comments]

My sons soccer coach - lost her 17 year old son on Thurs night.
He fell asleep at the wheel on his way home.

He used to help goalie at their practices.

A mother's sobs... one of the most heart wrenching sounds on earth.

It's a book of LIES.

Says someone who never read it....at all - i feel certain.

Considering i am cradle Catholic and am now studying it for the first time in my ministry classes. [Reading three books in fact, two related to the Catechism]

688 pages. And i go to class tonight, so i figured i would chime in a resurrected thread on the subject as i prepare to go to class.

Wow, Sounds like a thread that could turn anti-Catholic. Are Catholics allowed to participate? The first requirement would seem to be that the non-Catholic participants actually understand Catholic teaching. Anyways, it is my view that the heart of Catholic teaching resides in its praxis more than between the pages of a book. Although I have to admit that I am studying the subject.

So sorry to hear about the loss of the soccer coach's daughter. I cannot imagine...I pray for the repose of her soul, and for her family as well, who must carry on.

What kind of ministry classes are you taking? Perhaps you can help out if the thread warms up.

Peace

I am sure all of us here [and the Jews], are pretty well versed in the Psalms
