• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Is it done often? Excommunicating politicians for anti-Church positions?

It use to be in the old days. There was one pope (I forget which) who issued a blanket excommunication to EVERY card carrying Communist. That was back when popes didn't give a hoot. And in the old days in America, politicians were frightened of the influence that Catholic bishops wielded. Not so much now

Now the bishops are kinda scared, sad to say. But it would be a lot easier to inundate one bishop of one diocese with tons of mail and phone calls than it would be to do the same to the pope.

Why isn't the Pope or Cardinals gettin' this done? Do they generally leave regional issues to the area Bishop?

Absolutely. Contrary to popular belief, the pope does not interfere in the doings of other bishops' diocese.

Those who vote to put them in office should also be denied communion, IMO. I've heard more than one priest state this as his position as well.

While I'm passionately pro-life/pro-mother/pro-child, and while I'd respect the Archbishop if he excommunicated this "Catholic," I regard the internal actions of the Catholic Church as (to be blunt) none of my business. I left the Catholic Church, and when I did, I "left" any previlage I might have add to express my recommendations.

I will, however, continue to daily pray for the Catholic Church, for God's richest blessings to her, her ministers, members and Holy Father. And I often give thanks for her bold, consistent and often couragious pro-life stand and ministries.

Thank you.

Maybe not out where you live but in the some parts of Ohio yeah the Catholics are still really really bad about this for the most part.
I was just going by their official stance. Guess those Ohio catholics forgot to listen to the pope again.:p

Let the dead bury the dead.

I don't care to get mixed up with the Catholic church anymore than they care what I have to say.
