  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I work in a daycare so I should be used to this by now, but somehow not. I don't know why it is, but I can handle 15 2 year olds reinacting Lord of the Flies but I can't handle the new toys my mother in law sent my son for his birthday. All of them make noise all the time, and no matter how many times you turn them off they never seem to quit. I almost wish I could raise my son in the same time I grew up, where you had to make your own sound effects for your toys.

Yep, take the batteries out. And I don't mind if the kids get a little rough with the talking and singing toys. Whoopsie, it broke! Awww, we have to throw it away now. Oh well....:)

Those toys look cool and flashy in the boxes and on the commercials. But when you actually take it out of the box and push the buttons your kid suddenly realizes that there's not much he can do with the thing but sit and stare at it.

Okay, post from Martin Calvin's wife, the one who must listen to the toy all day!!! This is a new toy, and as soon as he stops carrying it around all day, it's going to disappear. At this age, he's not going to know the difference!
Ditto. After the noisy toy is put down and out of my childs mind it disappears forever, or perhaps only until my child is up late enough to watch Unsolved Mysteries reruns.

We bought our daughter a Luv cub (Fur Real Friend) for Christmas. It whines and sighs all the time and never shuts up (unless you turn it off). She actually gets so frustrated with it she'll start to cry. That's when I realized we went too far with the interactive toy thing. I think I'll put it away somewhere and only bring it out every once in a while.

I can only handle SO MUCH of the CHICKEN DANCE ELMO *SCREAM!!!!!*

Too bad he sounds like the wicked witch of the west when she's melting now... heh heh...-- and somehow I just never have any batteries for it when the kids ask...

I think that these toys are a grandparent's way of getting back at how we acted when we were kids LOL!

Too funny...

Before I had a child...I gave my friends kids noisy toys. I didn't know better. One of our friends had a rule that we now use. It goes like this: For every noisy toy you give us...you get two in return. Because Johnny and/or Mary will eventually come and visit you with those toys. We've even threatened that the toys will fall out the window. This works because we live twelve flights up. I really like Fisher Price, now because they are installing the on/off/high/low switches. Hammers are a beautiful thing. My daughter received a Christian doll because it had her name. It's name was Happy Hannah. It sang christian songs but was ungodly loud! After a bit of teddy bear surgery and tape. It sounds much better to us. I say, "Tape it or Break it!" Just kidding...

Whoa-- no kidding! Even Happy Meal Toys are coming with those-- and they're HARD to turn off or on-- not just some simple switch to flip back on when mom or dad flips it off *giggle!*

My kids got these little praying bears from my parents this year-- they are ABSOLUTELY adorable until you make them pray-- they are SO LOUD!!, and not only that, they have thick Japanese accents... its annoying but funny at the same time-- my parents had ordered them from a catalog so when we opened them is when we found out this strangly amusing and annoying thing LOL!

My daughter has a pink bear, white angel, and blue bear who only prays when you cover his eyes with his attached shades. We have fun trying to start them all at once. They all have the same exact voice which is a bit creepy but, hey it's the thought that counts right?
