• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

As long as the deadline has not come to pass, does one have time to fulfill their goal? Keep your head up and do not give up. Persistence is necessary. Why would God command us to do something in which we cannot? He knows the potential that we have within. He knows us better than we know ourselves. Think of affliction more as training. A player training for the game. A soldier in boot camp. Also, the discipline of a parent. In order for a plant to grow, the rain falls hard. The sun is really hot and even the ground may deny it. Good thing that gardeners exist. So please, press on.

Do you know you are on the 'depression' forum? I know you do not have depression because you understand little about it.

Please do not come here and make 'cry babies' out of very sad people with a real mental health issue.

It is a slap in the face!

I suggest that you keep your hostility to yourself. Is it not arrogant to make assumptions about others in which you have no proof in order to validate? Judge not lest ye be judged. Be careful with whom you decide to disrespect. God may get really angry. After all, be careful to entertain strangers.

I read your post. I didn't make assumptions. You were so direct one could not help but read it the way it was written.

You wrote, I read. You made your position clear, nice little crying emoticons to add a little 'feeling'.

I regret nothing I said. You tear down. Tearing down is ugly, building up is edifying.

At first I thought maybe I was seeing things and I'm like, this guy can't really be condescending her Right? Then I realized that's exactly what you are doing.

First of all you have no class, secondly you've got no insight into someone who lives with depression. Third, you are actually creating real harm here and it's TOTALLY uncool. Fourth you are being extremely judgmental with your biblical diatribe which is totally inappropriate to throw at someone in the way you're doing it. No one should use the Bible the way you use it. This is the exact reason why people get turned off from Christianity.

May the Most High bless you, but words like ungrateful and selfish is not sinful. Why do so many people want me to worship them and place them upon some pedestal? Did I sin? If not, why do you have a problem? Why are you judging me? Did God say I could not do such things? If not, why are you playing god?

If you do not know of me, you may be surprised about what my life has been like indeed, but I am not here to boast about such things nor glorify myself. You did indeed make many assumptions but I do not want to continue. I can tell by the spirits that things can get bit out of hand. Please, put your hostility away. God doesn't support such behavior.

Keep in mind, love is not easily provoked.

I shall warn you as well. Be careful to entertain strangers. God may get angry. Who are you to sin against me? Have I sinned against you? If you look closer, there is scripture supporting a lot of what was said. I am really serious about this. God is known for putting curses on those who think that they have the authority to treat me in any manner in which they choose to do so. We must learn our place before it is too late.

Try to take everything you can and glorify God. Take all the pain and suffer and give it a purpose. Take everything, as you call it, and give it to God. Make God the very center of your life. The very thing that makes you breathe. All of us have been decieved. Yes, all of us. It is a part of who we are. It is our very identity. So its okay. For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son. While we are sinners, he died for us. He loves us so much so that even saints die for us today. It is not a bad thing to want to die, so don't let anyone tell you otherwise. How many have told you that it is okay? We are suppose to hate our lives for the pride of life is not of God. However, we are suppose to direct this emotion towards the one who gave us life. God is to be exalted above everything, including out own emotions and desires. We are not suppose to love ourselves but love our neighbors as ourselves. As a result, we get left behind. For he who does not pick up his cross is not worthy. So wanting to die is not a bad thing. You are more beautiful than you make realize. However, we have no right to take it ourselves but there is no greater love than that which lays down their life for their friends, that is, at God's command. See, everything is a gift. For God created all things see and unseen. Life is full of the love of God but not everyone has eyes that see. God is indeed out there and keeping you alive to this very day so that one day you can be saved. Why does it seem as if the wicked live soo soo long but Jesus died around 30 I believe? God loves us and wants us all to repent but we must allow him to love us and not deny his love for us. For is you were truly alone, why are you surrounded by things seen and unseen? You are not alone. There is love. So yeah, I am saying that it is okay but try to give all of this a purpose. Direct it all towards God for something good.

I know what passage you are quoting. You are insinuating that you are an angel through the strangers comment. Sir, Christ said love your neighbor as your self. Instead of posting something loving supportive kind or anything like that, you throw meaningless scripture at her with very debasing remarks. And now you pull the victim card because someone dared to call you out on your narcissistic savior complex. Why don't you grow a pair, man up, and stop acting like a bully behind behind your Savior complex? People like you break people's spirits in half with your holier than thou facade.

Does anyone see how easy it is for the mind to go wild? This is one of the many curses right before your eyes.

The only strength I have is to cry. I want to give up. I'm tired of trying to figure things out and constantly wrestling within myself about my salvation, about what God is like, does he care for us does he hear my prayers, where is he, where was he the times I felt hopeless, and even in my compassion toward suffering people it all just reminds me of how painful this world is. Who can I turn to in times of hopelessness? I'm tired I'm not living I'm just surviving

Yes he does. Sorry if this is sort of blind, but I wanted to respond here.

Probably 90% of the people posting a reply to you have been deeply depressed, and/or felt like God is further than the last time He felt far away. God is infinite, so His answer may not always be in the form of His voice. He may communicate to you through real people, or life in general. I know what it is like to feel like God has unyielding mercy, grace and love for everyone else except me. I don't know if that is how you feel, but it seems you still believe in God but just feel He is distant.

I will be honest with you, it may not get better when you want it to, but it will. Pray and hope for peace, not happiness or lack of pain, brother. I have been really low too, and you have to know God is there. The Enemy wants to make you feel bad, and lie about your relationship with God - most likely because you are powerfully dangerous spiritually. Believing in God is usually enough to ensure you will be accosted by the Enemy, but deep depression and spiritual trials are allowed to happen to us because we can take it, and in the back of our heads, we know God is with us. We know who He is - even if He seems far away.

Look at David's famous Psalm 22:

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?

My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer,
by night, but I find no rest.
Psalm 22:1-2

That sound a bit like you? Even in that, He knows God's attributes (as I am sure you do):

Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises.

In you our ancestors put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them.

To you they cried out and were saved; in you they trusted and were not put to shame
v3-5

So, David recites the attributes of God, if only to remember and hope beyond the darkness. But then what happens? The enemy gets to him, and he starts to turn inward, and doubt himself.

v6-8

You can see how even other people are used by the Enemy to make an illusion of vindication for David's depression and hopelessness. So, he tries to "remember" God's attributes:

Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you, even at my mother’s breast.

From birth I was cast on you; from my mother’s womb you have been my God.

Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help.
v9-11

Then, David goes on about how bad he really [thinks] he has it. Opening up to God as to why he feels so far away, what he is going through, what he hopes for from Him, and what he will pledge to God to do if He saved him. Then, he ends strong:

v27-31.

This wasn't in one night I don't think. Most likely this Psalm was inspired from years of feeling down. But, not only did David make it out - He believed it, and God. At the end, David proclaimed God's future blessings on him and his generations to already be done. It won't be easy, but I know you will be able to declare it already done, and help someone else who needs it.

It is like a mother watching her growing little boy fall. When he was a baby, she was always there to pick him up. But, when he becomes of a certain age, she cannot run to him and pick him up immediately. She has to let him "fight through" and "endure" the pain. Though it pains the mother to see her child in pain, she knows he will soon be able to handle those types of falls and get back up with no problem. He will be stronger, and grow. God is watching every moment, and is with you through all of this - "right around the corner...very close to you." And, it pains Him to see you in pain, brother. I think many times low times are used as growth for believers; maybe you are growing, and God is trusting that you will come through stronger and better. I believe you will.

Thank you, your message was very encouraging. I never thought I was at the stage where I was strong enough to deal with this as you gave the analogy of the mother and child. I don't really think I'm spiritually strong because I've always struggled with doubting my salvation and I struggled with doubting God's love and compassion. I'm very weak spiritually
Thank You for your message it was very encouraging and insightful it gave me hope
