  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hello everyone. My boyfriend and I have been dating for over a year and I know he believes in the quiverfull way of life. He says he thinks birth control is convinient, but morally wrong.

I've always had it in my head I was just going to have 4 kids.

But, on the other hand, birth control really seems wrong to me. I don't like the idea of messing with hormones and I also don't like the idea of barrier methods. So I'm not sure what I believe at moment.

But that's not why I started the post. I won't be getting married for many years lol.

The question is...to those of you who have 6 plus kids...what do you drive? Even the biggest cars and minivans I see around here only have 5 seats in the back. So what do you do when you need to get all of the kids somewhere?

I'm sorry if this is a silly question. It's just that in order to educate myself about the way I might be living someday, I have to know these things.

Thanks for reading.

With DW visually impaired, I am the only driver. God has given us a 15-passenger van for such occasions, though four of my children are now out of the house.

I am sure a two-driver household, with two cars, could mobilize a larger family, if that is what God chose to give you.

There are a good number of minivans that have 6 seats in the back; we have one of those, which actually gives us one extra seat. But, with 4 carseats there isn't a lot of room anyway. :)

If we have another (I should say when; doesn't look like fertility rates are dropping) we will consider a 12 or 15 passenger van like church youth groups use.

At family camp last year (among a quiverfull crowd) we kept noticing the number of full-size vans.

I have a Pontiac Montana, which has 8 seats, but looks like a much smaller SUV. DH has a pickup truck, which seats 3, DS (22) has a Saturn ION, which seats 5, and DD (24) has a Pontiac Grand Am, which also seats 5. So, if we all go somewhere together, we just use 2 vehicles. No biggy. :)

I used to want a GMC Savannah that seated 12, but now I think I'm fine with just driving 2 vehicles, considering we Rarely all go somewhere together anyway.

my cousin has 6 children, all in carseats or booster seats. Her SUV seats 7, which means her and the 6 children all fit, but not hubby!! So if its during the day while hubby is at work, her and all the kids can go somewhere, but if its on the weekend and her and hubby want to go somewhere with all 6, they have to take 2 vehicles.
