  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I haven't heard that, and we mail stuff every day to these boxes. I googled and couldn't find a link either. Do you have a link to this news? Envelopes and letters are free only. Packages have always had to pay. At least in the 14 years my dh has been doing this. I need something tangible before I get into a tizzy.

I work at an Army post office in Kuwait. This is what I know:

Mail between APOs is only free if its in the same region (AE-AE, AP-AP). This applies to boxes as well as letters. If you're sending mail to another region (AP-AE, AE-AP), you're probably going to have to pay postage. In certain areas, letter mail going to the states is free. There are exceptions, for example if you want special services like insurance or delivery confirmation, but in most cases it should be free.

My gf was trying to send me a package from Germany, but they informed her she was going to have to pay. I remember reading a memorandum that stated packages sent to your PDS will not longer be sent free from Iraq.
I've always had to pay for packages. I thought only the cards and letters were free.

A few Soldiers in my unit sent packages to themselves in Iraq for free. Most of them were toughboxes, but they were free. Now its not apparently.

I haven't heard anything about the rules changing concerning singing letter/packages MPS. I've been stationed overseas for the past 16 years and deployed more times than I can count. I've always been able to send letters and packages for free.

Of course, for packages, the size and weight restrictions still apply. Before leaving Pakistan, I mailed a package home to Germany. The package was 69 pounds (70lbs is the limit) and I had no problem sending it free.

I do know that a few years ago (right after OEF/OIF started) they allowed sending from AE to AP and vice versa for free. That may have changed back to the old way of doing business.
