No Desire to Marry

Are there any singles on this board who have no desire to get married?

I have no desire either way. I've been a widow for 2 1/2 years, was married almost 25 years, so I can't imagine being married again. Although when my kids grow up, I don't want to be lonely, so I hope I have lots of friends.

You could say that describes me. I know i could be perfectly content being celibate. But I have been feeling very strongly that God has other plans. Not easy to have that conviction when I have never been in a relationship.

I have absolutely no desire to get married. I just don't see the purpose of it and don't understand why people do it. I only see two advantages to getting married: sex and people not thinking I am gay. As for sex. I have gone 29 years without it and can go the rest of my life. It's not like I know what I am missing out on. If people think I am gay it really doesn't matter.

yes same here i dont think ill ever get married whats the point? it creates more hardships and it doesnt last forever and paul said its better to stay unmarried

While I do desire strongly to marry and have children I will add this.

If you don't desire the companionship, total intimacy (spiritual, physical, emotional), and/or starting a family then your right there is no point to marriage.

Since I strongly desire all three I have determined that I want to be married.

Yep, Paul taught us that God calls many of us to celibacy. Sadly, protestantism doesn't have much of a place for us anymore.

I left the Methodist Church and now pursue my celibacy in the Catholic Church.

I like girls, would love to be married, but I realize that wouldn't fulfill me the same way that totally serving Christ through celibacy would.

It's in God's hands. I've experienced what love is like and I could die tomorrow a happy man knowing that I truly loved and still love someone. Whatever ends up happening, I'm going to be happy and enjoy my life. So basically, it's whatever. I'm pretty much care free because I know that whatever happens will be for the best.

Actually you are wrong, we do have place fo it. It just depends on what the Lord wants for each persons life. I am single and very happy, but if the Lord wants me to marry so be it.

Then I became a born again Christian and realised I would have to get married in order to have a child.

Was not really an excuse. Growing up I saw so many bad marriages around me...blokes beating their wives black and blue....wives running off to another state to have affairs (abandoning all their children in the process)...yes, this happened more than once...etc. I became convinced that marriage was not for me, all I had to do was find a guy to settle with and have a child with...no need for the wedding.

It's not allowed in Christianity, so now I have to buckle up and do a proper search for a husband......
