  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I sure hope this is the right place for me to post this. If not, I apologize. I was wondering if anyone has this Bible yet? I'm not sure when it came out, but I saw it advertised in Christian Book Distributor's magazine yesterday.

Anyway, if someone does have it...I'd like to know if they can give me the note for Exodus 20:8?

Thanks!

Yours truly in Christ,
sojourner

From MacArthur study Bible:

20:8 Sabbath. Cf. 31:12-17. Each seventh day belonged to the Lord and would not be a work day but one set apart (i.e holy) for rest and for time devoted to the worship of Yahweh. The term "Sabbath" is derived from "to rest or cease from work." The historical precedent for such a special observance was the creation week; a span of time equal to what man copied in practice. Each Sabbath day should have reminded the worshiper that the God whom he praised had indeed made everything in both realms of existence in 6 twenty-four hour days. The Sabbath would also stand, therefore, as a counter to evolutionary ideas prevalent in false religions. Moses, in the review of Decalouge, also linked the observance of the Sabbath with Israel's exodus from Egypt and specified that this was why Israel was to keep it (Deut. 5:12-15). Significantly, the command for the Sabbath is not repeated in the NT, whereas the other 9 are. In fact, its is nullified (ct. Col 2:16,17). Belonging especially to Israel under the Mosaic econmy, the Sabbath could not apply to the believer of the church age, for he is living in a new economy.

Thank you kindly, Willo!

While I got you...could you post the notes for Ephesians 2:11-13? I'm wanting to purchase the Bible, but there's none at my local bookstore and I would like to know what some of the notes say before I actually seal the deal and buy one.

If you can post just those notes...I'd greatly appreciate it!

Yours truly in Christ,
sojourner

The original MacArthur Study Bible did NOT have very good notes on John 8:1-11.

Since this new version you are discussing is based on the NKJV, I am wondering if they have changed their tune on John 8:1-11.

Could you also post the notes for John 7:53-8:11, if it is not too much trouble? But only post them if the version of the MacArther Study Bible you are using is based upon the NKJV.

Thank you in advance!

Nazaroo
