  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Concerning Ninevah:

Jonah 3:10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

He says He didn't destroy them... buuut...

Tobit 14:15 But before he died he heard of the destruction of Nineve, which was taken by Nabuchodonosor and Assuerus: and before his death he rejoiced over Nineve.

How do these two verses correctly fit together? It seems clear in Tobit that this is the same prophecy of Ninevah being destroyed because it does refer to Jonah as the prophet making such a claim.

Maybe I am reading this wrong but, what I think is that in Jonah God did not destroy Nineveh because of their repentence. In Tobit it is speaking of Nabopolassar, King of Babylon and Cyaxares conquering and destroying Nineveh in 612 BC

Someone correct me if I am wrong.
