Seven believers were killed as suspected terrorists attacked a predominantly Christian community in Borno state, northeast Nigeria, on Monday. Homes and church buildings were set ablaze in the raid on Kwaple village in Chibok county.
Local resident Ibrahim Adamu said that seven Christian mourners at a wake were killed and several others severely injured by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
In a separate incident investigators have concluded that a trailer truck driver intentionally crashed into an Easter procession in Gombe state, killing six Christians.
More than 30 believers were hospitalised after a truck rammed an Easter Monday procession in Billiri, Gombe state, also in northeast Nigeria, officials said.
Police initially attempted to attribute the incident to brake failure, but a committee formed by Gombe state officials concluded that the driver deliberately ploughed into the procession. Witnesses reportedly said the vehicle neither slowed nor sounded its horn as it hit the procession, then had no trouble coming to a halt.
