Great post by Grohl. Along with that and the fact that he played drums on my all-time favorite CD (Killing Joke's 2003 album), I can forgive him for being in Nirvana.

Everyone has their own opinion, but I do agree that music in general is not deep and follows the usual themes of love, drugs, partying etc. A lot of popular music really has no positive message to add and it's become more about how it sounds rather than what it speaks about.

I never understood the hatred for Nickleback, Justin Bieber, or anyone. Sure they aren't my cup of tea, but hating a band is just a total waste of time in my opinion. I don't even listen to Nickleback so I guess I don't know what I am talking about.

They're far from my favorite band, but I certainly don't get all the hate either. I admit to liking some of their songs.
Also- whoever knocked Linkin Park- meh to you. I like them.
If one wants to talk about a band where every song sounds exactly the same, one needs to look no further than Rage Against the Machine. It's a long standing joke with me and my husband that if you've heard one of their songs then you've literally heard them all.
I feel no shame in admitting to liking songs from bands that people like to diss. I listen to an extremely wide variety of musical genres and don't limit myself. If I like it I like it and if I don't I don't.
