  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Every year, I try to set some goals for myself and then stick to meeting them. I usually try to make a few goals for different areas of my life. I thought it would be fun to have a thread here in Mature Singles where we could share a little about our goals and use this thread as accountability for meeting those goals.

I have a few goals figured out so far and am starting now to work towards them. It doesn't have to be anything that has a completion date, btw - it could be an on-going change you want to make in your life.

My goals:

Focus on taking better care of myself physically - eating better, getting more (quality) sleep, taking care of aches/pains instead of ignoring them, exercising more consistently.

Focus on getting myself "financially fit" again - get rid of the debt I've accumulated in trying to get back on my feet, make - and stick to! - a budget, start investing in my company's IRA plan that is offered.

Focus on increasing my organizational skills (at work and at home) and learn to more effectively distribute my time (read prioritize) at work.

Interesting goal... lol
Well... I used to be a financial planner and I ballroom or Latin dance three times a week and I'm not giving up raspberry pie, so...

Ummm, my leads into ladies' ganchos in tango need work though. A 3-inch spike heel brought down on the base of your big toe shows you the error of your ways...

Next year I'd like to get "balanced" again and regularly follow more of my interests/instincts. I became such a worker bee this year, and I'd like to get out of that mode.

I need to get my self back into the habit of reading my Bible and doing devotionals every day. I was pretty good at it for a while, then just stopped!

These are both great goals. I am constantly looking for ways to live simpler/greener. I also just pulled out and dusted off my "Busy Mom's Daily Devotional" so that I can get back on track with being in the Word on a regular basis (aside from my e-devotional which doesn't always apply to me).

goodness.....my life is soooooo outta whack right now. I've focused a lot of time on working, eating and sleeping and not much else. So here are some things I want to make a concious effort to work on in 2008:

read my bible/do daily devotions
get back into more intercessory prayer
re-start exercising and do it CONSISTENTLY
eat better/reduce sugar and caffeine
organize my computer room at home
work on financial issues
spend more free time with friends/family
attend more hockey games!!!!!!!!
attend at least one baseball game

that's just a start.....I really need to clone myself...lol

Take better care of myself, and get back in touch with friends who I've let slip out of my life.
 I think it's awesome when I can catch up with a friend I haven't talked to in a while. Although, if they're far away, it makes me miss them more and wish that I could see them.

aaaaaw, thanks! Good to 'see' you too. Yeah....I really started 07 off on the WRONG foot. I had a few 'highlights' but this year is one that isn't really worth remembering. I sure hope and pray that I can conquer the demons that have plagued me for years and years (mainly the excess weight/bad eating habits).

I was actually going to say 'reconcile' but that implies a different sort of relationship than the ones I had in mind . . the one I'm thinking of I haven't talked to in 15 years. Wow.

15 years? Sounds like my high school friends. We kept in touch for awhile, even after college, then people started having families and such...

My renewed goal -- get more done that's meaningful by doing less stuff that's not meaningful.

It's amazing how quickly the time passes when we've drifted apart from people that were once active participants in our lives. I'm coming up on my 20 yr HS reunion in a few years and I don't feel like I'm old enough to have been out of school for that long. lol

Jen - re: your renewed goal... I definitely need to stop worrying myself with minutia and focus on the "big picture" and tasks/activities that are going to keep me moving forward.

Well, I hope you are able to make 2008 the year that you shine! Keep posting here for encouragement and accountability - and join the weight loss challenge in the Women's discussions! :D
