  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hello,
I'm Tom and new to this forum or any forum. I love to write and believe letter writing has become a lost form of love. It's the very personal and carefully thought out (supposed to be) nature of letter writing that I care about. Because of that, and other reasons, I never got into the Facebook thing. No chat rooms for me and never caught on to the blog world though I'm not sure why. So I'm trying a "forum" and don't mind suggestions as I learn what this form of communication is all about. Hope I like it. I'm 64 and have 9 children and 27 grandkids from two marriages. Have been a Born Again Christian since 1976. I got saved into a faith with a lot of abusive "law" and now many years later observe a Christian world filled with "greasy grace." No surprise I crave a careful search for balance and truth from God's Word alone and the ministries and literature I follow must do the same. I do Biblical counseling work for our church; help lead the men's ministry and volunteer for "Set Free Ministries" in Grand Rapids, MI, because I love helping others find their identity in Christ and make sense of all the confusion and rapid change we experience around us. My passion is to help Christians "Endure to the End" and finish their faith in this world. Christians are lonely in many ways and struggle with trust and being disillusioned. I know this because of my own Christian journey and the many I've met in Christ the last 46 years. To be able to sit across the table from someone who both understands and truly cares is so needed. The thief on the cross got off easy. I've often wondered what the next 30 years of his life would have been like if he didn't die that day and God delivered him off of that cross after he believed. He would have had to live it, just like you and I. Anyway, I'm here to see what this forum is all about. Thank you. Tom

Welcome to Christian Forums. It is a shame Christ had to suffer a painful death. I looked at the improvement in technology and medical knowledge since then and hope God might someday eliminate suffering and death.

What an impressive introduction, Tom. I do believe I will find your blog enthralling as I enjoy writing as well. I, too, am new to this forum but have experience from another website. I do hope to catch you in a thread soon or even on your blog once started. Be well, and welcome.
