NEW TESTAMENT STUDY CLUB - Epistle To The Galatians.
The previous sections of this NT study addressed the four Gospels, The Acts Of The Apostles (by the Holy Spirit), Epistle To Romans, Epistles to 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians. One can find them to make comments and ask questions if they wish at the CHRISTIAN CLUBS section on previous listings with this same title.

The Introduction to this Club was stated as follows:"Hello friends. The problem we often encounter with clubs is that it is hard to keep managing a club site, so I would like to set forth a club that has a format that will work even if the manager is not present. Does that seem like a good idea? Just make comments for others to see, and if I come I will join in.

"This will be a site to share understandings of the New Testament (N.T.) for Christians --no debates or arguments, but Christian sharing. I will establish the format and any ideas for change are welcome. We will leave the Old Testament (O.T.) to others to start, and concern our study with the N.T. since it speaks of Jesus Christ and the Church God established. Each part of this study will be labeled (e.g. Matthew, Mark, etc; Book of Acts, Romans, etc.) until the next book or section is introduced in several weeks (giving enough time for comments). Members should always be able to go back and post thoughts on the previous Books that they have read ---I hope that will work." -1watchman

Epistle (letter) to the Galatian saints:The Apostle Paul contrasts law and grace here, and C. I. Scofield points out in his commentary that the Christians throughout Galatia had become legalizers of the truth, and he states: "The theme of Galatians is the vindication of the Gospel of the grace of God from any admixture of law conditions, which qualify or destroy its character of pure grace." Their error was twofold in holding that obedience to the law mingled with faith is the ground of the sinner's justification; and also that a believer is made perfect by keeping the law.

Paul explains that justification is through the Abrahamic Covenant (Gen. 15:18), and that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after the confirmation of that covenant, and the true purpose of which was condemnation, not justification, cannot disannul a salvation which rests upon the earlier covenant, according to Scofield commentary. The Apostle shows that it is the Holy Spirit, not laws that sanctifies a believer.

Readers here are urged to prayerfully read the Epistle with this understanding, and see that Galatians makes clear that legality is not the justifier, but only the grace of God through Jesus, the Christ of God. Faith in Christ without law and works of man brings salvation. Readers are invited to contribute, comment, and ask questions after they study and pray over the Epistle ---just post below.
