Started by our resident Dramaking, Hidden Embers is a dark, serious, intriguing RPG, involving vampires, international espionage, the militant church, and heroes and villains from all sides.

The scene is in a town in Mexico, where the Catholic Church has deployed a mission to stem the efforts of the ancient vampire organization known as The Brotherhood to mortals. Long have the two been enemies, and they are not alone in their struggle.

The Brotherhood wishes to claim the weak and unstable Mexico as their first truly vampiric nation, which threatens the interest of the United States. They are preoccupied with conflict elsewhere, and have no means to combat a hidden foe that many still are not so sure they believe in. The Church moves to defend the mostly Catholic population, as well as to protect their allies in America.

The atheistic or Orthodox Russians hold little love for America or for the Catholic Church, and rumor has it that agents have been deployed from Russia to hinder American and Catholic forces, perhaps even to ally with the Brotherhood.

The United Kingdom is much the same, with a new disdain for the United States in recent years and a long-running disharmony with the Church.

This is where you come in. Choose a side, create a background of service and interest, and decide how you will aid your faction. Will you help to cull the weak and vampirize the strong, while trying to avoid notice and thus the wrath of the Church? Or perhaps will you slay the unholy in the name of your God, be they Vampire or a sympathizer? Is your homeland what you fight for, or do you wish to see an old enemy go under? The choice is yours.

On a more informal note, contact me for information if you have more questions. Feel free to ask them here, that others can see. I'm de-facto GM until Drama decides to take the wheel again, and I play a good number of the Catholic NPC's. We're looking for more members, especially on the Brotherhood's side.

Take note, this story is documenting a struggle, but we as players should not be in heated competition. Let's cooperate and make something great out of this! If you like Vampires, either as an ally, enemy, or just being one, and are serious about it, then this should be a good thread for you!

I might join, but I'm not sure how much we could do with this. Was it successful before? Maybe I should take a look at how the RPG was before prior to making my decision. If I do join, though, I'll probably join as a vampire. I could do a hero too, but I usually prefer the villain.

It went for quite a while, with only a few players. An influx of new members might work even better, especially if the old ones stick around.

Vampire=/=villain, necessarily. ;) My character that I actually RP consistently, Nicodemus Gianni, is what the Italians called a Stregoni Benefici; basically a repentant vampire. But yeah, more Brotherhood members would be awesome. Father Niko's character is another example of not being evil per say while still being a vampire. Basically, it's up to you guys what direction this goes in. Propose ideas, and we can work to change things up and make it more interesting. No problem.

A little bit into the future, but not too far for tech to be that different. I wasn't planning on letting in extra creatures, unless you can draft up a REAL good reason they would be involved in this conflict. And, er, "Anne Rice and Underworld say that Werewolves hate Vampires!" isn't a good enough reason. ;)
