Hi there folks!

I am currently checking on forums where the staff needs to be built up. Since Sacha Fitzpatrick has now resigned, that leaves you with just LilLamb in here. Therefore, it would be good if some of you would step up and run for mod. Any volunteers?

This is the procedure
- ask LilLamb if she will be your nominator
- either you are LilLamb let me know so I can send you an application form
- on receipt of the application form I will create the poll in here
- when the poll is finished, it gets put before the Review Committee for verification
- training starts

Look forward to hearing from you!

PS about three or four peeps would be good.

Blessings to all

Could it please be clarified exactly which forums people would be moderating if application is succesful. If it is just Cyber Corps then I agree with Clintus that one mod is all we need. I don't believe there has been any report of any posts in this subforum. There is a thread going at the moment in rules discussion where it has been suggested we can't have forum specific mods which would mean any mod would need to work any report in congregational area.

It generally takes a consensus of 3 for a report and that is why more than one mod is needed. It's more for your protection in case you get someone in here who starts flaming in the posts and you want the postings edited or deleted. For one mod to make the judgment isn't fair.

Exactly. Four would be a good group which would allow for when one if away for some reason. And if one decided to leave, there are still three to work the consensus. But since LilLamb is already here, we just need three volunteers.

No takers?

Incidentally, I know of a small forum (not on here ) where everyone who registers is put on staff! It's great fun!

Thanks for the answer.

I do have another question though. I can't find anywhere a list of requirements to be a mod. I know that one used to have to spend a certain amount of time on here over a week. Is that still the case? Is there anywhere we can read these requirements. It was suggested in one thread that we have Tracy and Evangelina for mods. See post #33 in http://foru.ms/t5684159&page=2 I spoke to Evangelina about it (she happens to be my wife) and her first question was about time commitment. I would be happy to put my hand up to mod also once I find out the requirements and I can follow them. (and of course if voted on)

I don't know if I should ask what forum it is! I am a member of other forums although I mainly come here. The others if I have time.

I am soooo sorry there! What a miss!

Well, there used to be a whole slew of 'requirements' but now it's just the time element which is a minimum of 4 hrs per week. But I have to be honest and say if you ask any mod that is something of an understatement! Some do 4 hrs a day if they are really keen but I think you could get by with a minimum of about an hour a day. And the training you need to be able to give about 1-2 hours a time for about 5 or 6 sessions which takes place over msn or even telephone for some trainers. Just depends what they/you prefer.

So - you wanna have an application form?

As for the 'other forum' it is a little gardening/art forum which actually fell into disuse after about 10 months. Shame, because it was quite cute! And I know what you mean about other forums. I think my current tally of registrations is about 24 but I only visit about 7 on a regular basis.

I'd like to see that thread - could you let me have a link?

I know there's been some debate about the senior mods - what are now called Category Moderators (used to be supervisors) who, with the admins, work across the Congregational board. But Forum moderators will only have access to the mod's knobs and buttons in the forum where they were elected. That's what all the ruckus was about - because up until last month, even trainee's knobs and buttons worked all over the site, no restrictions at all. Those new trainees who suddenly had them taken away felt slighted and made their injured egos known in no uncertain terms!

Hi Flaglady
The thread you wanted me to link is http://foru.ms/t5684159-the-new-cf-setup-very-important.html&page=2 and post #33.
As for your apology about missing my comment before there is no need to apologise as it was posted after you asked if there were any takers. While I was already thinking about it I hadn't actually said anything. So I thought I should let you know I was thinking about it.
