• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

hi jerry,
sry i took so long to respond. i do go to 12 step meetings. that's not where i get most of my support though. i , also, go to christ-centered support groups and groups at the Veterans Hospital. i get most of my strength by looking back to the work that the Lord had me start some year ago on the relationship between idolatry and durg abuse. revering the Lord is an area that has helped tremedously. this is yet another piece on writing that i started years ago. i've been fortunate to shelter myself in structured environments. (i won't go into detail now) another thing that helps is not to just focus on my weakness for drugs, but to recognizse how i need the Lord in every area of my life.

I also go to several places for strength, I read the Word daily, go to church, go to AA and NA, go to VA (disabled Vietnam Vet)...........But when it comes right down to it, and I can pin point my strength. "The Joy of the Lord is my strength" (Neh. 8:10). Joy is not happiness, all though happiness is a product of Joy. For me Joy is a deep-down in my heart spiritual force, a strength that comes only from being forgiven by grace, and a right standing with God.........I stay sober as long as I "trust God, clean house, and help others." You are helping others by sharing here........and I am grateful for your postings...........E Z does It...........jerry

gmadison can I ask if the crack and the sex addiction went hand in hand or ws one there before the other?

My dad is a crack addict and there are prostitutes hanging out at the house; I 'm finding porn videos all over the place and suggestive photos of the women. I'm sort of at loss for what to think right now.
