Hi Y'all!
I took my books to a second food pantry last night, and it was a big success!
For those of you who aren't familiar with my free bookstore, it's called KidsBooks (for now) Free Bookstore and our slogan is "Books are Bread for the Brain." I purchase good, new books and take them to food pantries where families who need help with food can come and take one book for each child in the household. They can also have a dictionary (a lot of families don't even have a dictionary), a Bible, Christian devotionals, scripture bookmarks, tracts, etc. Families are usually very happy to have their intellectual/spiritual needs met as well as their grocery needs.
Last night I went to a rural food pantry for the first time.
The first few families were a little put off about most of the books being Christian books, and they carefully selected from among the secular items I had.
The next families were all Christians, and they were overjoyed at being able to take home a new Bible, books about God, books about God for their kids, devotionals to share with their children and neighbors, and Christian activity books to keep their kids busy this summer.
And lots of families that aren't Christians (yet) were happy to take books about God and books about solving life's problems God's way.
It was fun and wonderful.
Thanks for your prayers. Keep praying!!
I'm almost out of young readers books and I only have two dictionaries left.
The next KidsBooks is saturday, July 27th, and by then I will have to refill my stock.
