  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Here in America an offer on a house is a bit like throwing darts blindfolded.

He could have offered the same price as the other person or even more but if they offered cash instead of a mortgage (which has more paperwork and involves more people) the other person will get the house.

And yes....bartering is part of the game for house purchases here.

ohhh I hope you get it if it's what you want :)

I remember sitting on pins and needles when I made the offer on this one...
they initially turned down the offer...2 weeks later they accepted...and wanted to close on the same initial date...
so in 10 days I went from continuing my search to signing on the dotted line(s) the day before Thanksgiving 2005.

I still love my house...it's open and airy with plenty of deep window sills for the kitties to sun themselves in and be entertained by the birds out in the backyard :)

No, I don't let my kitties outside...that wouldn't be fair to the birds after making the backyard into a birdie sanctuary of sorts LOL

Anyhow...good luck :) I'll stop yammering and procrastinating......

....

....

maybe...

I got the house. The listing real estate aggent said to my real estate agent that we were lucky. Turns out the other offer was for CASH but just a little lower than mine. But since I'm getting a FHA backed loan they will have to repair several things around the home that will probably cost them a few thousand.

So I should be moving in around the end of Dec.

I currently am renting a room. Its a pretty good size room. I only own a little of the furniture so I'll have almost no furniture when I move in. Not even a TV.

Will be fun shopping. Hope I can find a good renter for the 1st of Jan. for the other unit.

Praise God.

Well Merry Christmas to YOU! That's fabulous. So you have to find someone to take over the room you are renting? I'm sorry I'm having such a hard time following, but you know me  :D. In any event, I am truly happy you will have a home of your own. Didn't realize you didn't have that already.

I rent the room from a lady. She owns the house. There are 2 other guys that rent other rooms as well.
So she will have find a new renter.

Since my new house has two units. I'll have to find a renter for the other apartment. Not a fun experience. But will part a good portion of my morgage. So its part of the plan for building equity and being in a better place when I retire.

The home inspection went well. Major systems are good. lots of cosmetician stuff needs to be fixed. I'm thinking of refacing the kitchen cabinets in the rental as that will really help the appeal of the unit to renters.

Don't have a closing date yet.

Ya it is a lot compared to many places .. but near Boston its a pretty good price.
I should be able to rent out the 3 br apartment for 1200 to 1300. So then my part of the cost shouldn't be too bad. Tho I got quite a bit of fixing up to do ... so I'll have the cost of materials for that work.

I'm going to have to figure out who what internet provider I'm going to use at my new house. Then there is all the utility hook ups. Do I got with cable, fios or Satellite TV. How am I going to keep all these expenses down. sure dampens the fun of a new home. :( :)
