  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

80% Of Americans Support Voter ID Rules—But Fewer Worried About Fraud, Poll Finds

An overwhelming majority (81%) of respondents also said they support voters being required to show ID in order to vote, including 62% of Democrats, even as critics contend voter ID laws suppress turnout and unfairly discriminate against groups like low-income, elderly and minority voters.
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/a...ack_leaders_support_voter_id_laws_145598.html

To the contrary, a recent Rasmussen Reports poll found that 69% of Blacks and 82% of nonwhite minorities support voter ID. Another poll taken even more recently by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution found that a full two-thirds of Blacks in Georgia support voter ID. The data seems clear: A majority of Black Americans support voter ID laws.
Who exactly is against Voter ID? It certainly is not the vast majority of Americans - or even the vast majority of non whites.

My signature is my ID and has been for all the 45 years I have been voting. No need to create a more complicated system.

Like I said, posts which just make stuff up out of thin air don't bother me. This one included.

Yet my posts were substantive enough to cause you the need to reply to each and every one, this one included. I appreciate you taking the time.

Doesn't matter. It's become pretty evident that our votes don't count. It seemed for a while that they did, but I don't think we ever have as much authority over anything as we think we do. If you look at scriptures on kings, government, and leadership, there are a couple important observations. First, God sets up governments. This suggests God determined to put Joe Biden in as our President. Second, in studying governments, both territorial and within the religious system of the time, there is no democratic process. There was no democratic process in the beginning with Adam and Eve, there is none described in the kingdom or in heaven. This thing cannot be corrected by votes or electing "the right man".

One thing different about American government is that the people vote for their leaders. In the days of Kings, it wasn't done that way. Some became leaders through conquest, some through family bloodlines, etc. Those are called monarchies. The American government isn't that type of government.

In what way? Even in the time of David, the people wanted Saul as their king even though the people had relied on God through the prophets as their ruler. God allowed them to have a King, but it wasn't His plan for the people.

Here's a starting point.

Romans 8:28
[28]And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Proverbs 16:9
[9]The mind of man plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.

Proverbs 21:1
[1]The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes.

Our democratic process doesn't limit God's sovereignty. We Americans aren't as special as we like to think we are. In our case you can substitute President for King.

And the reign of Hitler--how do we apply those verses to that situation?

God uses all things. This does not make all things good. You might recall the captivity of the Israelites in Egypt and that God put them there. God used Hitler but that doesn't make what Hitler did ok. Consider Job. I would surmise that the greatest blessing in Job's life was having everything taken away because it brought him closer to God.

Sometimes God uses evil to accomplish a greater good.

Hitler's rise to power required the rest of the industrialized world to put aside their own differences and work together as allies... sounds like a greater good to me.

The thing is, I hear Christians (and scripture) say different things in this regard. "God is in control of everything", while at the same time we bear responsibility for what we do. If we go into a dangerous situation, we'll say that God will protect us. But if someone dies anyway, we say that it was their time. If we get a bad president who is destructive toward the people, should we say that it's what God wanted for us, or that he allowed us the type of president that the people who were depraved wanted and now they're paying for it?
Hard to always tell which stance to take.

Update:
The Arizona Speaker of the House (Rusty Bowers) has effectively killed the bill by assigning it to no less than 12 committees.

As longtime Capitol reporter, Arizona Mirror’s Jeremy Duda, put it:
“I've never seen a speaker or Senate president kneecap a bill as aggressively as this," he tweeted. "Triple-assignments? Sure. Been there. But this is Bowers killing the bill, chopping it up, setting the pieces on fire, then digging up the ashes and throwing them into the ocean.”

AHouse speaker just killed Arizona's most outrageous election 'reform'
