• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Currently under Rule 4.2 of the forums the following controversial topics:
a. drug use.
b. gambling.
c. polygamy.
d. extramarital sexual activity.
e. abortion.
f. homosexuality.
g. transsexuality.

are restricted to 3 forums - Philosophy & Morality, Liberal Theology or Christian Philosophy.

This means that these topics cannot be discussed in the Congregation forums amongst people of the same denomination. However, there appears to be a need for certain topics such as homosexuality to be discussed as it affects certain denominations specifically.

As such, I've created a new forum called:

Denomination-specific Ethics
The subforum for denomination specific philosophy, morality and ethical discussion.

This is a new For Christians Only forum in the Theology section as a subforum of the Christian Philosophy & Ethics forum.

Essentially, people from a particular denomination can open a denomination-specific thread to discuss certain controversial topics like homosexuality ONLY WITH PEOPLE OF THE SAME DENOMINATION - please make it clear in the Subject of the Thread which denomination is being discussed.

Hope this helps address this issue.

I do not understand why there needed to be a new forum, when there already are three forums in which people can discuss the issues mentioned above.

Do you really think it fair towards some here to provide another place where Christians may freely malign and misrepresent homosexuals and where those accused cannot even stand up against their accusers?

Yes, it does, Rochir. In fact, I requested it, along with several others, as a place to move Rule 4.2 threads started in the denominational/Congregation fora.

When someone wants to discuss Rule 4.2 issues from a denominational POV and starts a thread in a Congregation forum, the thread either gets deleted or moved to CP&E, where it turns into a free-for-all. A denominational subforum was created in GT to solve this problem, but then CP&E was created and Rule 4.2 was changed, but the GT subforums were not moved to CP&E.

Now what's important is to train all the Congregation mods to move Rule 4.2 posts to this new subforum, rather than the general CP&E subforum.
