Now, when you enter a journal comment in someone's journal, you give the person some rep (if you can do so) AND you also give the person 5 blessings.
A PM is automatically sent to the journal author so he or she knows you have entered the comment.
Enjoy!
I try. But here some very scattered thoughts I have on this (In the final analysis it is your privilege and your pregorative to determine which feature is applied and in which forum. I realize so you are free to ignore all of the following

- and it doesn't mean I don't think it's a good feature. )
:
- That would make journals a "paid service" (greatly exaggerated I know) ... and I wonder whether this is not like asking for trouble. No other posts but journal entries have this feature.
I still have in vivid memory the series of rep threads ... and in my mind's eye I have visions of people objecting to the fact that some get blessings for posting a quote, poem (one that isn't theirs but that encouraged them and those who read the journal) or about something that happened in their life on that day or any other (something that is important to them but only to them) whereas they (non-journal writers) put a lot of effort and time posting a message about some very serious matter in more serious threads. I think that was the arguement used in the rep threads.
I turned my "comments" off - people can still pm me but I would feel uncomfortable getting blessings for those entries.
Couldn't we make some kind of weekly competition - maybe with a thread on its own in the journal section, with a sticky:
A ) Best journal entry of the week by
- a member with post count under 100,
- a member with post count over 100
B ) Best new journal of the week started by
- a member with post count under 100,
- a member with post count over 100
Maybe even second best and third best.
First place 100, second 50, third 25 ...
Sorry, I digress

(but I'd be happy to finance this)
- As it is, more than one member actually did send me blessings because I commented

. I cannot insert in my comment "don't send me blessings" because that might be viewed as a hidden request for blessings. All I can do is send a thank you pm to the person and tell her/him that her entry is blessing enough. The minimum amount seems to be 10 blessings. I never received less. More than one assured me they do these to all those who comment in their journals (simply because they are so happy that someone reads and comments). I mention this because I think it shows that people who write the journals are thrilled as it is just to have someone take note of their thoughts and entries.
- the amount of blessings in the online profile is no reflection of the total amount of blessings any CF member might have since we have the CF bank but it cannot be seen whether a CF member has a bank account and how much is in it.
Even the post count is no indication. There are many very generous members here on CF who do send blessings to newbies and other members (there is no shortage of "thank yous" in the Blessing Thanks forum - and those reflect only the anonymous blessings given). And if the newbie is an adopted member, he/she might be fully equipped with blessings (maybe there are in the bank and therefore invisible).
- Each post contains the "bless button" which is very convenient and there is enough space to leave a message. And Chrisbot delivers the whole message. The only difference when blessing someone in a journal entry, the comment cannot be seen by everyone, just by the writer of the journal.
- New members would have to think twice or more before commenting in a journal. Especially since they might be confused whether there comment went through and they might try again. A newbie with a post count of 20 would lost half his possessions by making two comments. They'd have to resort to pm.
