  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I lost one of my cats recently to cancer. Very tough day there...

On Fri of last week, I picked up a cat from a friends mom. She's about 2 yrs old, but VERY timid. Samantha's spent most of the time since I got her home hiding under shelves in the basement, or on top of a shelf in the basement. She hasn't had much to eat or drink since I got her home, and most of the time when I get close to her, she backs off. The good news, though, is that she hasn't growled at or scratched me or my other cat, and has let me scratch her a couple of times. Usually though, she steers clear.

Anyway, please pray that she'll warm up to me, and to her new home, and that I'll know the right way to help her get over her fear. I think she was abused before she was adopted by this family...

Yeah, it's just me and the other cat & Samantha.

There may be progress today! I put some turkey in her bowl & opened one of the foil packs of food and dumped that in there, then just sat down about 6' away & read. It took about 10 min, but she did come out at eat. Thanks!

I suppose you are right. I have 4 cats and everything is OK with them all!

Let your new friend feel love and care! It helps! Event my parrots became very nice and not afraid of me at all. :)

GOOD LUCK!

I think the ice has broken. She came up to me this morning, let me scratch her head & under her chin, and then wound around my legs. Of course, now I'm taking off for the weekend, so I'll probably either get the 'you left me' attitude or she'll back off a bit just because of time we weren't 'bonding'.
